RE: Kathleen Alice McLennan
Hi. Here is a follow-up on the information I sent to you earlier (December).

I was able to track down and verify the cemetery Kathleen Alice McLennan is interred in, and have corrected this information on “Find a Grave.” This led me to think further about the family and their nicknames. Everyone in her immediate family, it seemed, had nicknames, which is not unusual if first names are duplicated among family members.

I may have been wrong about who was nicknamed or called “Todd”. Here is an attempt to clarify:

Kathy’s uncle: William R McLennan (Walnut Creek, CA), may have been called “Roy.”

Kathy’s father: Charles (Oakland, CA), may have been referred to as “Todd.” I have a small memory of that name being mentioned once or twice, but was not really sure who it was assigned to. I only heard Charles called “Charles” when I was at their house. But, it stands to reason that he would have had a nickname too.

Sorry for the confusion. Best wishes with your genealogy exploration.

Check out his record at floral hills.
I found a military memorial in kansas.
I added it to his record because a wwII
Leo frame is on it. I will remove it if you
find it does not belong.

RE: Kathleen Alice McLennan
About Kathy and the McLennan’s as I remember them:

Clara C. McLennan, Grandmother
William R., Uncle Todd
Kenneth G., Uncle
Charles J., Kathy’s father
Grace M, Aunt

Kathy, her Grandmother, Kenneth, and Charles lived at 3714 Magee Avenue, Oakland, CA., when I knew them. Her mother and father were separated or divorced. They had two cats: Tugboat and Cheesy. We were not allowed to pet them because they were considered little thugs.

Her uncle William, called “Todd,” lived near Walnut Creek, CA with his wife; I do not know if they had children. Charles, Kathy, and I went to visit them on one occasion and I remember they had a number of very impressive walnut trees. I am guessing they called William R. “Todd”, because his father’s name was also William. That’s all I know about him.

Kathy and I were close friends (we lived on the same street); we played and went places together. She was attending Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, CA when her dad, Charles, died. He died from a heart condition when she was about 15 years old (1959-1960).

The McLennan’s were always nice to me. I was very sad to learn about Kathy’s early death at the age of 27 from heart problems.

If you have any photos or anything you would like posted to Kathy’s memorial on “find a grave”, please let me know.

Best regards, Gene
