Michael is researching two fanily names that were the earliest of Steuben County pioneers - Sowle and Kope/Cope.|
The SOWLE family of Broadalbin, Fulton Co. and Venice, Oneida Co. in New York then Wayne Co., OH came to Indiana in 1837. The patriarch is Joseph Sowle who along with his wife Rachel (Allen) Sowle had a land grant for his paticipation in the War of 1812. Along with them came most of their family of fourteen children, including two sons Abel & Francis Tripp, who bought orginal land in Steuben County,Indiana.
The KOPE family came from Pennsylvania in 1822 to Cannan Township, Wayne County in Ohio. The patriarch is John Henry Kope (sometimes spelled Cupp or Kopp) and his wife Ann Magdalena "Mary" Van Han or Van Hern. Henry became a successful farmer while in Wayne County during 1822 to 1852. Henry, Mary and their son George Fredrick, daughters Elizabeth Ritter and Lucy Ann Ritter and their families came to Steuben County, Indiana in 1854 and settled in Pleasent Township on a 128 acre farm.

|LNM2016||Diana Soule/Sowle, sibling of Darwin|
Do you have more information (sources) regarding the spelling as Sowle? Darwin's sister, Diana, was my GGgrandmother. It's been quite some time so before you wonder how, the lapse in generations became very great very quickly. I'd love to learn more from you. I do have an Ancestry tree and hope to hear from you. Thanks.

Dear Michael....you posted a photo on the memorial for Wayne Wilhelm at Waterloo Cemetery in Indiana. His wife passed away last August and I noticed a photo request for her memorial. Thought I would give you a heads up as you can easily copy your photo you originally posted online and fulfill that request. Sorry I didn't note the number. Still early today!!

|jspraker77||John Porter Cole|
Hello Michael, I came across your information for John Porter Cole. I have a lot more info if you are interested, especially on his Civil War service. His parents are Attrusha and Aurelia Porter Cole, my 3G grandparents. John would be my 2G uncle. He wrote a ton of letters during the war which are in my family's possession. The Cole farm is still in my family, as is the house his brother Joseph built in 1886 in Norwalk, Ohio. I am working on transcribing his letters and hope to put them in booklet form someday.

|Mervyn Hall||Armenella Hazlett Ramsey|
I am Mervyn Hazlett Hall and I reside in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. I have information relating to Armenella and Francis Ramsey and I am related to the former. I believe her father to be a brother of my great great grandfather Irvine Hazlett.
I was amazed to find a photograph of her on Find my grave and really appreciate this addition to my family tree.
If you have time then please contact me.
Yours in kinship,
