I am a local historian in Rapid City SD, I specialize in finding where people are buried, I have many readings of cemeteries in Western South Dakota I hope post them on this site. |
I have a vast number of cemetery readings and obituaries that I am putting on site, I also am a volunteer to look up obits for people, please contact me if you need help in the Rapid City area.
I don't go too far to do pictures, I don't go to Fall River County to do pictures too far away, some places in Pennington are too far away.
I consider myself a scribe of the cemeteries, they are waiting for family , friends or whoever knows about the person and can do a bio to take edit control of them from me. I do not hoard memorials and I am more than willing to transfer to people who ask.
Don't put obits up where pictures should be, ask me to transfer so you can do the memorial the right way, only so many pictures can go up and using an obit that way is wrong!
Please, please just send your number on edit to ask for transfer that is the only way I want to do it, it so much easier that way.
If anyone has memorials in South Dakota they can no longer manage, please consider transferring them to me, I would be glad to have them.
My husband died in Sept and I am finally getting back to work on memorials and anything else that I can do.

Hi, it's been a long time, but I may have found a book at my local historical society library, or googled the cemetery.

Thank you for switching them back. I have no idea where the Creighton Cemetery is but will try and find it next time I am back. Time flies and don't get as much done as I used to.

There isn't another cemetery out there. Granger is microscopically small and always has been. There are only two family cemeteries in the entire county (both way south, nearly in Utah) and a couple of trailside burials. That guy doublej that took a photo of the marker wouldn't have found a marker if it were anywhere other than Granger.

I was reading the changes to Jack's memorial and was wondering who sent you the additional information. We are doing a presentation on Jack and would like to get with other family members and get any additional information on Jack and his family in Chicago. We only have the information that was left by family members in the local area. If you could send the person who sent you the info my contact information or send me their contact information I would appreciate it. Thank you for your help and the upkeep on this memorial.

Hi Ellen, I sent a message but it is managed by Dan Brockman so the message went to him. I had messaged him a year ago but he never responded. So don't know if you will get the message I sent since he is managing the Memorial and you created it. Janet Erdman

Is Louis kin to you? Happy to transfer if he is.
The obits aren't coming from online sources for the most part, rather from microfilm. I just hit 62% of the Rock Springs Cemetery, I've got little over 5,000 burials yet to look at. If you decide to do yours, look at a chunk of newspapers for an entire week and see if you have a weekly dead people roundup. We've had it here since the mid 1950's, first on Sundays, then Saturdays for a good long time, and now back to Sundays,it makes it a whole lot easier than trying to find them one at a time. Good luck with your project!
I'll check it out.

This is from today's edition of the Jamestown Sun, online edition:
A burial service for Darrell D. Domek and Lorraine Fay Domek will be spoken at Calvary Cemetery in Jamestown on Monday, July 3, at 10 am.
Darrell passed away in 2002. Fay passed away April 17, 2017. Anyone who knew these two wonderful people and parents are welcome to join Darrell's and Fay's family at the grave site ceremony to remember them and dream them beyond into God's eternal love.
Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home
That's all the info I have at this time.

I got your message about Hartville. I'll be there in August for sure. I might actually have a chance to get there next week. I'll get as many pictures as I can.
