I live in Northern Indiana and am very interested in the Civil War. One of my hobbies is to visit the graves of Indiana Civil War Soldiers. To date, my dad and I have visited over 1,940 cemeteries and have found the gravesites of over 37,000 Indiana Soldiers, as well as some 9,000 soldiers from states other than Indiana. We have also located the gravesites of over 1,700 Confederate soldiers buried in the Hoosier state. I am also trying to find the grave sites of all of Indiana's Civil War Colonels. I am also interested in the 8th Indiana Infantry, Company I, and the 12th Indiana Infantry. I am also looking for every Chaplain that served in an Indiana Regiment in the Civil War. If you know of any gravesites you think I may have missed, or have some interesting information, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also working on a book about Indiana's soldiers that died during the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you are looking for a Hoosier that served in the civil war send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help in any way. Currently, I'm also trying to locate every Civil War veteran in Kosciusko County, Indiana, and upload them to Find-A-Grave. I am also a Christian, and look forward to life after the grave. Thanks.|

I'm impressed with your work for our veterans, Eric, and am happy to play a small part in your efforts. Thanks for honoring them all!

The headstone inscriptions are pretty accurate, but now and then go awry. I usually submit an edit with the inscription but I suspected this one was in error. The home record obviously trumps the stone when you can match it to the cemetery plot (which we can!).

You're Welcome. Also, I normally try to get a close-up and wide shot of each memorial, but for Peter Lavell it got dark on me and I ran out of time, so I only got the close-up. I'll try to get a wide shot the next time I am out there.

You and your dad are awesome. I can tell you have a love for these men that served us,
My husband has several family members from Indiana. We are planning a trip to Indiana in the Spring of 2018, WE will be visiting mainly Kosciusko county .His 3rd great grandfather William Charles Winters 1794-1858. lived there from 1820 until he died. I noticed you are the one who put his name on Find a Grave also.
Thank you for the work you do it is very appreciated. I live in Washington state.

Hi Eric, I am not finding any info other than b/d 1862 for Joseph H Nixon. Did he die at age 26 rather than 26 days? There is a James R Nixon, b 1836, buried in Fairview. Any information you have would be welcome. mrs
