Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been researching my own family and volunteering for the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society now for the past few years. I love wandering through cemeteries and will be willing to take photos of headstones in my town (or within 20 mi. or so) to help other researchers.

PLEASE ASK ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO TRANSFER A FRIEND OR RELATIVE. I ALMOST NEVER HAVE ANY PROBLEM DOING THIS!

The following poem, which I wrote, has gotten a lot of attention lately from those wishing to share it with others. Please know that I would be honored if you did. You can use my name as author if you like.

THE CEMETERY PHOTOGRAPHER

Wandering among the stones I see
The stones so weathered and worn
‘Tis difficult to find the date
On which the babe was born

I stare at the stone and am struck with awe
At the life that I knew was gone
This was someone's child, a babe so sweet
With loved ones to carry on

So I take a photo for all to see
For the family that remains
An everlasting memory of
A child of God's domain

I brush the weeds back from the stone
And say a silent prayer
For the babes that had no chance to live
And for mothers everywhere

The dove calls out it's mourning song
Among the stones so still
Echoes of the woes, through time
The choirs of despair

The stone will someday perish
The flowers will be gone
But a photo now remains of this
Their memory lives on!

And so my friend, don't hesitate
To film the weathered stone
Those who live within your hearts
Are never truly gone

***PLEASE NOTE NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS!!!! THANK YOU!!***

Find-a-Grave Friends: Due to several circumstances, I have been delayed at fulfilling transfer memorials and corrections/connections. I plan to begin working on these today to complete these as requested. Thank you all for your patience -- you have not been forgotten -- and although I won't be notifying you individually that the corrections are made, please rest assured that they will be done ASAP. I appreciate your patience! -- Jan

**************************************************ACCIDENTS SUCH AS DUPES HAPPEN, BUT *PLEASE* MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FOR AN EXISTING MEMORIAL FIRST BEFORE CREATING A NEW ONE! I HAVE HAD TO DELETE A NUMBER OF MY ORIGINAL MEMORIALS BECAUSE OF DUPES THAT WERE CREATED WITH MORE INFO OR PICS AT A LATER DATE. AS I HAVE STATED IN THE PAST, I WILL ALMOST ALWAYS TRANSFER MEMORIALS IF REQUESTED BUT PLEASE, AS A COURTESY, LOOK FOR AN ORIGINAL BEFORE DUPLICATING. THANKS!

RE: Myrtle Ray
Jan:

I may be picky, but as ugly as I am, I have to be! ha, ha! Yreally appreciate the time you took adding the obituary to Mrytle Ray's memorial for me. Ironcially, her obituary as well as her tombstone both show the year 1884 as the birth year; however, she has a brother whom had the same parents born 3 months after she was if one utilizes the dates depicted in her obituary and on her tombstone. This is one of may family errors over time that I have uncovered as she was actually born in 1883 a year earlier according to birth records, bible records, as well as census records. Atleast in this case, they managed to get the tombstone to the correct cemetery (with a wrong date) on another instance the family placed the tombstone in the wwrong cemetery entirely! We may be ugly, but we have our ignorance to fall back on! Silly fools, we blame it on granny's side of the family! BTW: The obit layout looks really nice. Those "Lines" YOU suggested at the top and bottom of it, really sets it off! I hope one day we get to meet, if we find out we are related, then I will volunteer you for dish duty at the family reunion! (while I excuse myself in the bathroom hiding until they are all done!) [Another one of our family characteristics for sure!] ha, ha!!!!

Hi Jan, Davis Heflin in my great uncle and seems like I added him right after you had a memorial for him. What I was hoping was you would delete yours. The number is 29461348
Also the one for James Johnson another great uncle 29461352 who I did the same thing for.I've added family to mine when I created them back in 2009. Another member contacted me that mine was a double. If you would it would be very appreciated. Thank you Judith Finnell
