William Pearson - FAG Memorial# 143048524
Marksville Bulletin
Marksville, Louisiana
Dec. 4, 1880 p.2

Editor Bulletin: Was murdered on the highway within a mile of Marksville, on the 26th William Pearson.
He was industrious, sober, peaceable and of a quiet disposition and character. He was very much beloved by his kindred to whom he was very much attached and ever ready to lend a helping hand. He had by his industry and thrift accumulated a sufficiency for independence and was very much esteemed by his own people as well as the whites.
He lost his life through fidelity to the trust confided to him by his employer and friend. Though otherwise out of place here, justice to our community requires it to be stated that his murderers were not of us; one from Texas and the other is stated to be a fugitive from justice of Mississippi.

Child of Ben Ellis & Jane Bowman
I have been reviewing your cemetery postings this evening, namely Jane Brown Bowman's post.

They had another "known" child. The daughter missing is: Eliza Jane Bowman, (1832 - 1906) who m. a Johnson. They moved to Hill Co. TX. This child appears on Ben's list of children, but not on Jane's. My husband and I visited with her descendants in Texas several years ago. Ellie Stites Swanger

I went to the DAR's member website & it appears that another DAR member has joined through Daniel's son James T. Bowman - so you're in luck!

Do you have a way of contacting you w/o leaving a public message? That would be easier & I could assist you more easily. It would also be more private.

Let me know.

DAR membership would not be difficult for you as I am already a member & a cousin has already proven Daniel Bowman's patriot status.

All you would need to do is prove your connection to him. Each generation requests birth place & date along with death date & place. Couples also ask for marriage place & date. You can list unknown on any generation after the first three or four generations (I forget how many) as long as you can prove your link from Daniel.

I've been a member since I was 19 & would be more than happy to assist you.

RE: Mary Amanda Bowman Swanger
Happy Tuesday!

My name is Heidi (Swanger) Baird. I posted the correction on the death date of Mary Amanda (Bowman) Swanger in 1913 at the Davidson County Asylum.

I would be very interested in communicating with other genealogists researching the Bowman & Swanger surnames. My mother & I are both members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and I have a supplemental membership through Daniel Bowman, Mary Amanda's paternal grandfather.

I would be very interested in sharing information if you would be too. My Bowman/Swanger genealogy is as follows:

1. Me
2. My father, John L Swanger (1937 - 2002)
3. My paternal grandfather, Charles C Swanger (1913 - 1989)
4. My paternal great grandfather Benjamin Jacob Swanger (1860 - 1933)
5a. Benjamin's father, David Franklin Swanger, Sr. (1834 - 1915)
5b. Benjamin's mother, Mary Amanda (Bowman) Swanger (1838 - 1913)
6a. David's father, Jacob Swanger (1800 - 1855)
6b. David's mother, Elizabeth (Horn) Swanger (ca. 1805 - 1860)
6c. Mary's father, Benjamin Ellis Bowman (1804 - 1889)
6d. Mary's mother, Jane M. (Brown) Bowman (1803 - 1885)

Happy researching!

Mary Amanda Bowman Swanger was my paternal gg grandmother. She is listed as dying in 1868, but this is not correct. She is listed in the 1910 census in Davidson County, TN under the name Mary Swinges. In 1910 she is in the Davidson County Asylum, as is also true in 1900.

Just an FYI...

RE: Bowman
You're welcome Tawny, happy to have found him for you. He was buried next to wife Minnie Elizabeth Harris Bowman (1886-1983). In case you have her included in your tree, I wanted to let you know I just created a Find a Grave memorial for her since she didn't already have one. It's memorial #179494193.

Have a wonderful day,

Is J. H. Robertson(156032962) in Pine Springs, the father of Horace Robertson. If so, I can link them? Just want to make sure?

Thanks for the info. I usually take 300-400 pictures at a time. I didn't realize how Windows 10 would change my pictures. I have some others with the same problem. I didn't know about the problem until it was too late.

This is my great grandmother. She is the first wife of William Levi Wilson who is buried at Evergreen Cemetery. I connected them. The cemetery book may say W. A. but maybe they could not read the stone. His name was definitely William Levi.
