gillen family connection
Dear Rebie,

I am looking for the Gillen family from South Carolina that settled in Alabama by 1830. My grt grandmother would be Margaret Jane Gillen who married Samuel Morrison, they settled in Byhalia, MS by 1850. Her two siblings Garresin or Garrison Gillen (b 1830) lived with them in 1850 (census) and her sister Mary Gillen came to live with Margaret by the 1860 census. When I saw the photo of Wilkins and his wife Nancy Jane GIllen....well, who knows if she is the connection to the Gillens I am interested in.

If these persons are related to Nancy Jane (nee Gillen) Wilkins that would be exciting news.

Thank you Rebie.

Thanks for posting a marker photo on my memorial for Kenneth Davis -- but would you "please" turn the photo the proper way...... as of now you have it posted sideways.

RE: Ward cemetery
Thanks so much for your kind message, Rebie, and offer to return to the Ward Cemetery to document the grave sites of my relatives. As it turns out, there is a pretty good reason why you were unable to find a headstone for Rebecca Smart "Becky" Ward II (1872-1967). That's because she's buried near her son, Earl Clifton Ward (1901-1982), and his wife at the Wilmer Cemetery -- also in Mobile County. Found the profile, including a photograph of her headstone, earlier this evening. Will transmit a message to the individual who manages the duplicate profile and suggest that they remove it from the FindAGrave website.

As you suggested, I'm guessing that everyone buried in the Ward Cemetery has some connection to my GGG grandparents, Tarlton Solomon Ward (1827-1912) and Rebecca Smart Ward (1832-1916). No doubt, it will take me a while to determine how everyone is related. Any assistance that you can provide with photographs of any remaining undocumented grave sites would be very much appreciated, Rebie, but PLEASE don't consider it a priority. I'm in no particular rush. I'll be happy to have access to the photos and associated information whenever they are posted to the website.

Thanks (once again) for all your help. I greatly appreciate it.

Best regards,
Paul S. Bratton

RE: Wolf Ridge
WOLFRIDGE Cemetery was established for the Pine Grove Community. I don't know who donated the land, but many of the people who died in the area are buried in it.

I can't transfer any of the wilkins graves because I took the photo's and entered them. You will have to write to the originator of the memorials for them to transfer people to you.

The cemetery is run by Jerry Phillips now who operates Phillips Feed Mill almost across the street from the cemetery on a side road.

It's okay, we all start out new and learn things as we go along.

I have deleted James F Wilkins. I help Lisa out at times. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

As I see that you are very new to Find A Grave, please read this section of the "Help with Find A Grave".

Editing & Correcting Memorial Information

This will give you the reason just in case someone doesn't transfer a memorial to you.
I will transfer Lillian Wilkins to you only because she is not in my family tree.

Also, a "please" would be nice instead of "request", it is a big turnoff.

Not meaning to be mean about it but I almost decided not to transfer. Also, I have to look up who you were writing about with the number you gave and then look up your member number just to figure out who you want. Please use the "Edit" button.
