It's not too difficult for me to get the photo. It's more difficulty in dealing with the cemetery. They are also a funeral home and it takes top priority with them.

Hello, I am trying to track down my great great grandmothers parents. I do not know their names, all I have is my g-g grannies info and can't even find her burial place. Her name was Laura Ratliff she was born in 1882 and died about 1902. She married Chancey Gramlich in 1897 at Briartown Haskell Co. Oklahoma, he was 27 and she was 15. she had a daughter Myrtle Gramlich born in 1898. I do have copies of a couple photos that my mom says is of the Ratliffs.

|S Barger||RE: John Linton Springstun/William LInton Springston|
They indicated in the response to the photo request that they did look for both Springstun (as the early ones spelled it) and Springston (as the later ones are now apparently spelling it).
I think there was an assumption made that since he died in Fort Smith, he is buried in the National cemetery there, but the VA has no record of it in their burial database. )-: By feeling is that he really isn't interred there. Where he is though, I have no idea.
His widow and his son are at McCord. Along those lines, I retook some photos at McCord about a week ago and was able to read some that I couldn't previously (it was much better natural lighting that day). Still couldn't find one for him there, but can try again on another day.
I don't know if anyone has ordered his military record (or possible widow's pension) records. They may indicate a deduction for transporting his body to McCord for burial.

When I linked John to his father Linton, I requested a photo of Linton's gravestone. I felt it odd that he wasn't listed in the VA grave locator database since he was supposedly buried in a National cemetery. I received a response from a photo volunteer that they could not locate a stone for him. Bummer. He may have been plopped in that cemetery. I wonder if there is any proof at all that he is buried there because the VA database is usually fairly accurate.

I've linked him to his father Linton. I have to say though that I'm really wondering if Linton is buried in that cemetery. the VA Nationwide Graveside Locator does not show him in the database for the Fort Smith National Cemetery or any other national cemetery. I've requested a photo of his gravestone. If he isn't really interred there, we will need to inform FindAGrave because it might have just been plopped there. The person that created it originally is no longer on FindAGrave.
Great photo of Linton though. You don't happen to have one of Sophronia do you?

Looking for information on a shared ancestor, William Linton Springston. He was the husband of my 2nd great grandaunt, Sophronia Young. Linton died of erysipelas in 1864 while serving in the Union Army.
I'm writing a paper for the Arkansas Historical Association annual conference bout using Civil War records to reconstruct family ties, using Linton Springston and Sophronia Young Springston as a case study. If anybody out there has info to share on Linton and/or Sophronia, I'd be grateful.

O.k. I uploaded those before I forget again. They appear to be upright, so maybe they will stick this time. (-;
I did add your FindAGrave contributor number in the caption, just in case one of your relatives sees the photo they can make a connection with you.

I hope you are doing well. I added the links you requested.
Question about Mary Clark Brewer...remember the photos we were trying to get loaded upright? I noticed that Mary doesn't have any photos on her memorial (85261632) I still have those photos that I rotated for you to upload. Do you want me to send those to you again? Or I can upload them and credit you in the caption. Just let me know how I can help you.
All the best in the new year!

I am not the manager of her memorial, so I cannot add her as a link. I will make a note in her mothers bio with her name & #. If you contact the person maintaining her memorial perhaps they will add her mother's link. ctwardo

I am always curious about the ones that i go out and photograph. I always wonder what they did, how they lived, what they liked to do, how well they were loved. To me they are more than just an headstone. And yes they make me feel even more connected to my mother, who passed three years ago. Find A Grave is a great place.
