Samuel Crawford of Bennington
Samuel Crawford was bORN about 1810, probably in Bennington. His mother's name was Hannah, born about 1790. He had one daughter named Anna b.1861 in Bennington. She married Norman Slade abt, 1879 and they had one son b. in '79, named Frank. Norman was my gr-grandfather. Something happened because around 1890 Norman married Hattie Amelia Perry, my gr-grandmother. I have found no further record of Anna, Frank, or Samuel. Are you aware of these Crawfords? Any info would be helpful and if I can help you in any way, let me know. Thanks.

RE: abbie Morgan crawford
First I want to welcome you to the joys of Genealogy. You may find it very addictive. I have a fulltime job and do genealogy in my free time. Thankfully my kids are grown now, it was hard when they were younger. Genealogy is my leisure time. (Not really a leisure activity but it relaxes me sometimes, when I haven't hit a brick wall)

Abbie died in February so she was entombed in the cemetery vault until the spring. Depending on how the winter is, most of the time in the Northeast if someone dies during the winter months they get entombed in the cemetery vault and buried in the spring. The ground is usually too frozen for them to be buried in the winter. They didn't start listing both the entombment and final burial place on the death certificates until sometime in the 1980's in Vermont. Some cemeteries don't have their own vaults so they use another cemetery vault. So sometimes it's hard to know exactly where they are buried. If I didn't walk through the cemetery and find them I usually try to find an obituary which says where they will be buried. I am researching the families that lived in Bennington County (mainly Bennington, Dorset, Shaftsbury, Sandgate, Sunderland and Manchester) as this is where my family is from and there are many connections throughout these towns.

Again welcome to genealogy! Happy Researching!

RE: Harold Crawford
Hi Cecilla,

Thank you for bringing my attention to his memorial. The reason it had burial unknown was because I did not know his burial place at the time I added the memorial. Someone else added the headstone photo but didn't inform me of it so that I could put him in the right cemetery. For Eugene's parents - I have no death information for Henry, I had information for Abigail "Abbie" (Morgan) Crawford but not burial information, as she died before the death certificates included that information in Vermont. The person who added the headstone photo for Harold put a note that Abbie (Morgan) Crawford was on the other side of the headstone. So I have added her to the cemetery and linked Eugene to her as her son.
For future reference, when inquiring about a specific headstone it would help a lot to include the memorial # in the inquiry, it makes it a whole lot easier to find the memorial.

Again thank you for bringing this to my attention.

RE: my dad
Hello and thank you for contacting me. I posted the picture of his monument when I was in Vermont several years ago and in the cemetery. YOU can post pictures on the memorial itself. I was not the creator of the memorial another member did. If you will look at the bottom left of the memorial you will see that name and can send a message to that person. Only the creator or manager of a memorial can add or delete information with the exception of the persons in charge of findagrave. I would suggest that you contact the creator and ask for a transfer of the memorial so you can manage it now. It is your direct relative so it should not be an issue. If you get no response I would contact findagrave and ask. I hope this helps.

Hi Cecilia,

At the bottom of the Memorial there is a tab with a Camara on it and it say add a photo for this person right under the cemetery picture or last picture. Click on it and then selet a file and it will open your documents then just open the folder that you saved your pictures to and once you click on the picture you want to upload click open and it will upload that picture to their Memorial. If you make a mistake you can also delete the picture.

Hi Cecilia,

I went back into my tree and looked it over again and I told you wrong. I am related to his wife Edna Irene Galusha. She is a 3rd cousin 3x removed. I was not sure of the removed so I looked it up and this what I found.

Removed: When the word "removed" is used to describe a relationship, it indicates that the two people are from different generations. "Once removed" indicates a difference of one generation, "twice removed" indicates a difference of two generations, and so forth.

This site explain it pretty well. Source:
