RE: Photo: Thomas Jewell's Tombstone
It was very difficult to read in person. I transcribed it in the caption. It read this:

Thomas Jewell
June 9, 1901
Aged 48 yrs. 9 mos. and 24 ds.

And you are most welcome for the photo. The inscription is half way down on the stone and is in beautiful font.

Mariah Thomas Smith-stone
Mariah J. Thomas Smith is buried as you know in the Broadus Cemetery.
She was my Gr. grandmother (Smith's)
The stone is almost illegible. There are marker's for 2 or 3 children next to her stone. Picture was taken in Mar. of 2015.

RE: Abbie Duffy
No sorry, I am not related to Abbie. I was doing some Family Tree Research and her info was in the same old newspaper that I was reading that told about my relative - so I typed up her info and thought I could get it added to her memorial. Success! Thanks for the help. Bob Weaver

Thank you for contacting me about Michael Swartzcope. I included all the info I have about him and his parents on his memorial and unfortunately that is all I could find. I was able to find a little more about his children and included that on their memorials but as far as siblings and parents, I'm afraid I didn't find anything except a lot of different ways to spell the surname. That's what makes this family so difficult to track. I do think that most of the Swartzcope's and various spellings of that name, that I found in Missouri are all related to this family line. I think that's where his siblings stayed as well as St. Clair County and surrounding counties in Illinois. I hope that helps!

Did not mean to send that quite so quickly. I wanted to add the following:

Would you share any information that you find?
I will share back with you. Are you on Ancestry?

South Street Cemetery is the same as Old Cemetery. I think you will find this linked information of some use.
I will try to get by the old location soon and see if there is anything left, I am thinking there is not.
Then we can take a look to see if we can find where it was moved and if there is a headstone.

re: John Tompkions 92692024
about possible daughter Jane Ann- I am not seeing anything to confirm that. BUT did see that John had a 2nd wife Ester Ralph married in 1859. But the dates would/don't match for him to have a daughter Jane Ann who was married to Isaac Clay??? will have to do some digging....

RE: Bazel Thomas # 79872974
The tombstone only says "Bazel Thomas 1860-1910". I have photographed the cemetery and used a 1972 walk-through and she isn't listed. But she could have been unmarked or her stone could just be gone.

Murdock Cemetery is in the country and there are several stones no longer there but had been at one time. I am sure weather and vandalism are to blame for it.

I can double check my local library and see if they have anything listed on this family. I'll try to get there in the next few days.

Right now we can link Bazel to this children and just list Laura in the biography section until we can locate her.

I am trying to photograph the whole cemetery, while looking for my family "LaBelle". If there are any other names you would like me to look for just let me know. I have found headstone not listed on the site (which I list as I find them).

Robert L. Johnson
Nelson Clark, Edgar County
I see from the 1900 Federal Census that there are two Benjamin Clarks born 1887/88. One born 1887 is the son of Seberry b 1854, son of Benjamin. The other Benjamin born in 1888, is the son of Nelson who, born in 1840 could not be a son of Benjamin, b 1824. No doubt they are all related, but just how...still don't know. Robert

RE: Nancy E and Nelson Clark

My thinking---not documented---is that Nelson is a member of the Clark Family of Embarrass Twp, Edgar County that originated in Guernsey County, Ohio and points east before migrating to Illinois. I know nothing of Nelson's wife's family (surname at birth unknown to me). However, on the Clark side, I am a g g grandson of Snowden Clark, brother to Seberry and son of Benjamin Clark and his wife Mary Katherine Bonnell Clark (buried in Embarrass Cemetery). Mary Katherine's mother is Nancy Thomas who, with her husband Daniel Bonnell are buried in a rural cemetery just north of Old Washington, Ohio ( I was there last year). There is also a Thomas line through Snowden Clark's wife Sarah Jane Chandler, but it is several generations back. Sorry I cannot be of any greater assistance at this time. Robert

Thanks so much for the work on this memorial and also fixing the grave marker. While searching for a friend I found your site. It is her great great grandfather! She will be thrilled. Where did you find the photo?

Thanks again,
