Cathleen Burgess
Burgess Line
Hi,

I am trying to work on my husbands tree, and I am hitting road blocks.
He is a decedent of James Burgess and Polly Davisson through their son Nathaniel. I was wondering if you had any information on James besides what you have listed here, and further back.

I saw you noted you were related to the Burgess line in OH, so I wanted to reach out and make contact/see what you know to possibly help each other.

thanks

Cathleen

John Kennedy
I am the fifth great grand daughter of John Kennedy and Mary Williams. First, thank you for the Memorial for him. However, I would like to add some corrections. John married Mary Williams in 1809 and they had their first daughter, Zilpha in 1810. Another John Kennedy, son of Thomas J. Kennedy, married Elizabeth Wilder. There is a lot of information regarding the family of Thomas J. Kennedy due to his military records. As far as I have found, John married only once and remained married until both their deaths. Also, I have never found any records showing the daughter, Nancy, though I have records for all his other children. My grandmother was a Wilson and her mother was a Hunter....so, we may be related on both sides.

I noticed that you are researching the Pinkermans from Lawrence Co., Ohio. I have quite a bit of info on each line. Could you email me directly at 67buick@roadrunner.com to maybe compare notes?

Rigney Family
Dear SJB: As I've been doing family research, I see that you're on the same path as me since you've shown up on similar memorial pages related to the Rigney family. Its likely we're distant cousins. I noticed a note you left on Lottie Gregory's memorial and wanted to share some further details.

The 1910 census showing Jonathan Dennison as Lottie's step-father was off one generation. He was her step-grandfather. Lottie's grandmother was Phoebe (Thomas) Rigney Dennison. Lottie's mother was Phoebe Dorcas Rigney. It's confusing because of the same first names and also because Phoebe Rigney was not married, keeping her same last name. The error in the census records just compounds the confusion, but earlier censuses (1870) show Phoebe Dorcas and her twin, Barbara Ellen, were children of Phoebe (Thomas) & William Rigney.

I hope that helps if you're researching the RIgney family from Lawrence Co. Should you come across Phoebe Dorcas Rigney's grave or information on such, I welcome that information, but that would likely be in Ohio somewhere. There is a Sowards Cemetary, so I wonder if she might be there. I welcome connecting further on Rigney history in a less public space. Please feel free to reach out if you're interested. Thanks again!

Alexander Holloway - Photo Request
Back in Feb you sent me word that you could not find the grave of Alexander Holloway in New Bethel, Garner NC (#143835233). I would tend to agree with you in that he is really buried in the New Bethel in Orange Co. but I haven't been able to convince the person who created his page. You mentioned that you had done a little more digging. Anything found that I could use to warrant moving him to the other cemetery? Many thanks. Deb Kueter

160496549 Audrey J. Cotton
Hi; would you mind taking another look at the memorial you created on Audrey. You created it April 2016 and attached photo. I tried to enlarge the photo but am able to see the dates even with enlarging it.

My reason is that I created a memorial for an Audrey Judd Cotton based on none being found when I searched. After I added it I did a 2nd search using the "Find All" in same cemetery and found your Audrey J. Cotton but you have a death year of 2014 (why I my search didn't come up with it). Is your 2014 a typo if so could you fix it and let me know and I will delete my memorial. Thanks

Memorial# 148085914-Elizabeth Burgess
Hi, I am the one that started the Marcum - Johnson Cemetery Memorials on Cotton Hill, Wayne Co, WV.
I have never seen this Elizabeth Burgess up there. Everyone up there is a close family relation in my family and I have no idea who this lady is.
I looked at my Delorme Map for WV and there is another Cotton Hill, WV, just above Fayetteville, and close to Rt. 80.
She is probably from and buried there.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm about 99% sure she isn't there.

Thanks, Rhoda

Thank you so much for trying to find his grave in the New Bethel Cemetery in Garner. I tend to agree with you in that he is buried in the other New Bethel in Orange, but the site creator for the Garner cemetery would not agree without photo proof. I will relay your thoughts on to him/her.
Thanks again!

Thank you for taking care of Marshall Ayers' info and for making him a memorial on Find A Grave, too. I'd be happy to help you if you needed someone to take Marshall over, but I think you're just being generous to offer. I've never worked on Find A Grave (yet), but I very much appreciate you folks who have done so much work.

Marshall Ayers
Thank you for your work on FindAGrave. You and I have talked before about the cemetery where Rebecca Dillon Callicoat Ayers is buried. Marshall Ayers is my great great grandfather, and I want to comment on his memorial. He is not buried with his wife and other family members at the private Callicoat Dillon Ayers cemetery. According to family history, Marshall got annoyed with his family and asked the staff at the local poor house to take him there. His son, Samuel "Dyke" Ayers tried to talk him out of it, but failed. Dyke asked the poor house to please keep him informed about Marshall's condition. They did not. When Dyke checked on him, Marshall had died and was buried in an unmarked grave at the poor house.

You are correct that the 1880 census listed him as living with his daughter. It was shortly after the census that he took off and passed away at the poor house.

I saw that I was mentioned in a conversation you had with Karen Mattox Christiansen. I enjoy hearing from you and Karen, and all folks who share trees. Thank you again!

George & Minnie
Just found a bit of twisted family history George had a brother Constable Joseph Rigney 5-20-1888 to 7029-1952. He was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty. Now for that twisted bit George and Joe were brothers ok Minnie married George in 1913 well Minnies mom Prudence had married Joe in 1907. Minnie Mae Conley married her Step Fathers own brother.

Stoddard/Burgess
Hi - and, yes, I do remember you and our earlier correspondence. I come into your family through my Dad's brother's wife - Pamela Stoddard, daughter of Roy (1906-1968) and Isabelle Kennedy Stoddard (1904-1999). My line goes back through the Stoddards, Izatts, Gorman, Overmann, and Burgess. If you would life specifics, I can send them to you, but I imagine you can trace it back through Roy and Isabelle Stoddard. I have put thousands of colateral relatives in my tree, including photographs and military history. The LDS members of Pam's family have many entries in Ancestry and I have used much of it in my tree, as well as things from "Fog Tree in Zion".
