Tabitha Zies
I went to the Dunlap Cemetery a couple of days after last Memorial Day when I was back for a high school reunion. I walked the cemetery with Ralph Hedgespeth, who is on the cemetery board, and his wife Wanda. We could not find a marker for Tabitha Zies. In addition, Ralph brought the plot maps of the cemetery with him, and we examined those. Those maps show who bought the plots, not who is buried there. There was a plot purchased by Charles Zies, so Ralph and I checked it. There were some Hylton children buried there. One was Philip Hylton, a son of my Great Aunt Esther Zies Hylton. I can't recall the others. So if Tabitha is buried in Dunlap, she is in an unmarked grave. I'm sorry there isn't more information.

RE: Tabitha Zies lists Charles as her husband, and John as her father. I'll check for all Zies gravestones, but I don't remember any. I mowed the Dunlap cemeteries when I was in high school, and I walked the entire cemetery last September without noticing a Zies marker, but my memory could be bad. If I have time, I'll check to see who is on the cemetery board and has the books.

Photo Request for Tabitha Zies
I expect to be in Dunlap near Memorial Day. I will try to get the photo for you. By the way, Tabitha's daughter Esther Zies Hylton, was my great aunt by marriage.

RE: Bird Saffold
I don't have a lot - Reuben and Sarah had 8 children, one was Mary Ann, my 5th great grandmother. I have the line up a few more generations, but I don't know much about Bird, other than he was his sister's guardian after she was declared insane.

Have you ever read his will in the Harrison County Chancery Court Records at Gulfport, Mississippi?

Wow Daniel!

That's great info. to have. I always thought my great-grandfather was her second husband. If you run across or create memorial pages for her first two husbands, let me know and I'll link her memorial to them

RE: Wilhelmine Dornburg
The website shows that she and Jacob Meisenhelder were married on 2 May 1907 or 20 May 1907. There are two transcriptions for their marriage record - one says 02 May and the other says 20 May. Unfortunately, the original pages are not on line there.

The 1900 census shows that she and Fred Alex were married for 24 years which would put that marriage about 1876. Her Alex children were born between 1880 & 1902.

Re: Ada Short Blanks
I believe that you're absolutely right about Ada being a child of Jacob and Emma Short. To connect her, you'll have to link her to them from her memorial page.

It's neat to see in the obits of both Ada and her husband Will, that my grandfather, Dudley Baker, was a pallbearer for each of them.

Roland's obit
Roland A. Heldt, 78, of Alice died Thursday in a local hospital.

He was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Nordhiem, son of Robert and Alvina Borchers Heldt. He and his brother, Arno Heldt, began the partnership of Heldt Brothers Trucks in 1931 and were pioneers in the oil field trucking business. They worked with the Texas Railroad Commission to develop a stable rate structure for truckers in Texas. Heldt Brothers is one of the few remaining rig moving businesses.
Prior to forming the partnership, he was a carrier between DeWitt County and San Antonio.

Mr. Heldt was a charter member of the Oil Field Haulers Association and a charter member and organizer of Transport Insurance and organizer of the TMTA, a transportation organization. In addition, he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church of Alice and had been a resident of Alice since 1945.

Funeral services will be at 10am Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm Saturday at the Lutheran Cemetery in Yorktown.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes Heldt of Alice; a daughter, Fay Holt of Yorktown; five sisters, Junell Barth of Yorktown, Georgie Williams of Conroe, Marilyn Korth of Cuero, Frances Gates of Del Rio and Violet June Gohlke of Corpus Christi; one brother, Eddie Heldt of Yorktown; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Research Foundation.

All arrangements are under the direction of Holmgreen Mortuary of Alice

Roland Heldt

I had transferred Roland's to you before I saw the request to the obit. Thus, you will have to add it yourself.

Jane Heldt
Hi Daniel, I've talked to my mother who knew Jane and the names add up for her, so I'm sure you are right on. Apparently, Jane was married a few times before she married my great grandfather, Ernest Barsch. Do you have any of those husbands names? If so, I'd be happy to make the links. Are you related to Jane?

Jane Heldt
Hi Daniel, I received your request to link to Jane Heldt Barsch's parents. I notice though that Jane is not listed as a child of Frederick in his obituary. Are you certain of this relation?

RE: Zies
Daniel, I have transfered Fred to your care. I will let you make the connections with his parents. I believe that family belongs with family. I'm so pleased that you have taken an interest in Find A Grave (at such a young age). I have been on this site for over 4 years and have added as many of my family as I can. There are others in my distant family that have added some so I don't have ownership of all of them. But that's OK too. I worn you, it can become addictive. I remember seeing you as a little boy coming to church with your grandmother and watching you grow into a fine your man. Best of luck in your future endeavors and keep up the good work. Beverly Jobe
