Thomas john Ross 1738-1813
hi Sophia -- I an wondering if you provide accurate documentation of this clan -- I am following my own Ross clan and seem to have data that shows THomas John ROss m to Jane Esther Miller 1738-1814 -- however, seems their son, John 1767-1829 - m Susanna; their son, THomas b 1790-1862 m Elisabeth SLusher 1796-1866 ---records then trickle down to my grandfather, George Ross -- and Thomas John's ancestry can be traced backward to John I from Scotland. My DNA shows a heavy influence from Scotland, Ireland and England....

The birth location in the Memorial has Plzensky (Plzen), Czech Republic. However, in the bio section you have a note: "Note: Actual DOB 4 Mar 1847 at Holovousy 18, Bohemia."

There are two Holovousy villages in the old Bohemia Region of the Czech Republic. One is in Plzeň-North District in the Plzeň Region. The other is in the Jičín District in the Hradec Králové Region.

I didn't want to just assume it was the Plzeň Region. Could you verify which is correct? Thanks.

Mary Ann (Harris) Dickens Allen's Find-a-Grave Memorial
I am associated with the Longmont Genealogical Society. I maintain a database of all the interments in the Longmont, CO Mountain View Cemetery. As part of that service project I cross check with Find A Grave on a continuing basis. I recently checked for a Find A Grave memorial for Mary Ann Allen, whose name is in our MV database, and could not find a memorial for her on Find A Grave. So after much searching with no results I created one. Only later did I inadvertently discover your memorial for her, Find A Grave #55163584. I would like to discuss this with you and perhaps make some suggestions to make your very fine memorial for Mary Ann more 'find-able'. I think this subject is too complicated to effectively discuss via this message forum. I was wondering if you might be willing to contact me via by e-mail account for further discussion on this topic? I can be reached at

Alonzo N. Allen
I wish to copy photographs of Alonzo N. Allen's protrait and Alonzo H. Allen sitting in the hearth of the Allen cabin at Allenspark, CO. They will be used in a family history titled "The families of Perkins Allen and Elijah V. Lovejoy," which I am writing.

May I have your preferred citation style? For example, "Photograph courtesy of ____, City, State."

Perkins Allen is NOT a relative of Alonzo N. Allen, his antecedents or his descendants.

Where do you fit into the Allen family tree?

Thanks for your help!

I can not confirm at this time of the maiden name of Howell. It could possibly be Dickens.

My pleasure and yes, that is what Find A Grave is all about - paying it forward. This was an easy job - I was able to walk right to the graves because I knew which section and row they were in!
