A Footstep In Time
RE: Jesse and Bloise Judson Martin
Hi Renee
No not really. This is what my tree says: father-in-law of niece of wife of 3rd cousin 2x

I took photos of the entire Social Springs Cemetery a while back and tried to research as many as I could before adding them to find a grave. I almost always try to do this so I can connect them to family members. For the most part everyone in a cemetery is related in some way.
Have a blessed weekend.
Donna

There you go she is all yours. No I did not have to clean her up. Finding the cemetery was not easy, and the whole cemetery needs cleaned, but her's was in good shape.

I am afraid that I do not manage any of those memorials. I am sorry that I cannot help anymore than the photos.

RE: Martha Schmittou and Livingston Schmittou
I have flipped those two pictures for you. Yes these two and Robert T. Schmittou are all nest to each other in the cemetery. I photo'd these memorials as part of an eagle project that I did. I am in no way related, but I found these as needing photos and gave them some.

Crestview
When standing at the bottom of the hill on Keith Avenue, Crestview is the large area on the right and can be seen on the page at the bottom. It is separated from Southern Chain which is at the bottom of the hill by a rock drive. Longview is the top area.

There are several drives that meander through.

Southern Chain, Longview, Crestview
It is thrilling to me to see we are not alone in caring for these three. I understand that Crestview was once as bad as SC and Longview. Most was cleaned. JJ Jones brought prisoners in to clean the other 2 last spring and summer. My husband and I haunted these and photographed each stone we, and they, uncovered. I'm sure that we missed some, so please help! Standing at the bottom of the hill you will see Longview becomes brush on the right side. This was never cleared. We went in and found several monuments very heavy - some with the inscription face down. This area, now that the snakes and bees are asleep, is one you might find more. You will need a shovel, clippers, and a rag in addition to your camera. Thank you so very much! Tommie Nichols, Powell

I am so happy you found your grandmother! She is of no relation to me so I transferred her memorial to you. Good luck in your research and have a Very Merry Christmas! Cindy

Virginia Brown
Schmittou Family
Hi Renee,
It has been interesting to research the Schmittou & Dunham families. They aren't listed in the Jack Co, History book. It's a scarce book to find, but every now & you can find one offered by various book companies. Keep checking Google, and you might luck out.

The Schmittou family photo has been posted by various people on Ancestry. Don't know who was the original contributor. I reworked the one that I posted so that it is a little clearer.

Regards,
Virginia

RE: Schmittous
My 4th great grandfather's son had a daughter named Sarah Ellen Dunham. She would be my 1st cousin 4x removed. Sarah married Gustavis F Von Schmittou. That is my connection to the family.

RE: Jack County Info
Hello Renee,
The History of Jack County Texas is a wonderful book. I bought it a few years ago. It was printed for the Jack County Genealogical Society for the Sesquicentennial Celebration of TX (1836 - 1986) by Curtis Media Corporation in 1985.

Here are a couple of links selling the book for $195:

Hope this helps.

It came off the Library of Congress website of Civil War images. I could not tell you who the Photographer is because they did post it with the photo as far as I remember.
