Nikita Barlow
David Philom Young #8339655
Hi again, Christopher,

...and thanks for your swift response! I'm wondering whether the engraving you'd uploaded is a portrait of the noted David Philom Young (1781-1852). He's buried near David Young (1705-1765) in the Hanover Presbyterian Churchyard, and is listed among Findagrave's "Famous" burials because he was an astronomer and co-founder of The Farmer's Almanac.

Best regards,
Nikita

David Young #7866858
Greetings, Christopher!

I've added the date & place of birth you've suggested to David Young's page, and have credited you as the source of this info in the "Notes" section, but I do have some concerns as to whether he is the individual pictured in the engraving you've added, which shows a gentleman in early 19th Century dress, not one who lived in colonial times. Can you tell me more about David? There was no photography during his lifespan (1705-1765), and only the very wealthy could afford to have their portraits painted. Could this engraving be based on a portrait of a David Young descendant with the same name?

Thanks for your input.
Nikita

Watkins/Gordon
BDS Watkins and Jane Gordon were married in St. Clair Co., AL and their first children were born there and then they came to TX and some were born in TX.

We researched him for years before I found a land document that totally cleared up his name...we would find him as Berryman, Beriman, Benjamin, BDS, Berryman D. S. and such. Then I found him on a BLM land document that showed his name as "Benjamin Watkins"...then the "Benjamin" was marked through and "Berryman Dela Shumate" was written in. So, it cleared up that his first name was not Benjamin and really was Berryman and finally I knew his middle names were Dela Shumate!!

Thanks for your reply. I this is my husband's ancestor and it has been quite a few years since I worked on this line. So, when I did a few searches to see what was new "out there" on the internet is when I found the marriage in 1868 back in Virginia...I have in my records that he died between 1855 and 1860...I can't seem to find why I put 1855 (probably an event of some sort) and I couldn't find him in 1860 (usually means they died)...but to find someone fitting his description in VA for a marriage was really strange. So, I'm wondering now if he left his family in Shelby Co., TX and went back East and remarried...more research!! Thanks, Kay

Is that an actual photo for the grave of Joseph Williams 64574745 or is it just a place holder? I"m confused. Do you know which cemetery he is buried in? Thanks for your help, Karen

Picture of Colonel John Walker
Christopher -

Please remove this picture purportedly to be of Colonel John Walker. This is not historically accurate: this picture has been on ancestry.com for years an has been attached to John Walker of Virginia.

I know that you do not want to perpetuate misinformation: there is already too much of that, especially concerning Colonel Walker. We need to strive for historical accuracy and I know that you will work toward that goal.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Col John Walker (1728-1796)
Hi Christopher:

I am new to genealogy and have just learned that I have DNA that match the Walker family I am researching the Walkers and found that I am related to Col John Walker....6th great grandfather. When I saw his findagrave.com entry I saw that you are also related to Col John Walker and as 6th great grandfater....so I think we may be related.

I just got the results on Ancestery.com and see a lot of people are in a related circle for the Walkers and I am one of them.

Here is the pedigree for my relationship to Col. John Walker:

John Thomas KELLEY (1906 - 1976)
son of John Washington KELLEY
Phyllis Jane KELLEY (1929 - 1980)
daughter of John Thomas KELLEY
Suzanne Phyllis DEVINNEY

Do you know how you are related to Col. John Walker?

Benjamin M. Gramling 1816-1894
I was not aware a memorial already existed for my 2x great uncle Benjamin M. Gramling. Therefore in Jan. 2014, I created one for him at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Greene Co. Arkansas where he is buried.
I tried to contact the person who created this page, but they can't be contacted.

Hi Christopher,

The subject memorial has been updated as requested. With the snowfall we're getting this winter those gravestone stones won't see the light of day until May. Another blizzard coming tomorrow.

Happy graving,
John G.
