Re Hickory Grove Cemetery, Lincoln County, Arkansas

The Hickory Grove Cemetery at the link above is not at Palmyra. It is located at a community named Rest, but the cemetery goes by Hickory Grove because there is a Hickory Grove Baptist Church in the community. Palmyra is a community located about 10 miles away on another highway. I hope this can be corrected. Also, the list of cemeteries shows this Hickory Grove Cemetery, Star City:

I know that one person of the six listed is at the cemetery incorrectly identified as at Palmyra. Thank you for your help with this matter

Ginnie Chester Dunaway was not married to her father in law Jesse Dunaway but to his son John Calvin Dunaway. Please correct this tie as you manage her memorial after Kenneth Greene. Thanks in advance

I was hoping Caroly could help me with her Lowry side of the family. I have Lowry family members in Stewart, Houston, Humphreys, and Montgomery Counties in Tn. Just wanted to see if we might be related.

RE: Cora Vaughn Photo

You are most welcome and I apologize for not finding the grave the first time I looked. I was looking for Vaughn instead of Jacobs. I read the obit on her memorial the other day and found that her first husband was Jacobs. So sorry about that.

I can't think of anyone I know named Vaughn, but that doesn't mean there are not some who live here. Have you tried checking the White Pages in Plainview?

Good Luck

RE: Richard T Gray Photo
He is buried in Section E. I have sent a message to the person who set up the site to add that. He is buried next to Sadie Gray and and Infant which I believe to be theirs. The 3 markers are all the same style and together. If you look under Gray you will see where I added the Infant. This is a very old cemetery and the lots are not numbered very well.

I linked F A and wife. My great grandfather John L. Robinson is buried in Brown Hayes along with his 3rd wife Lavalla Chambliss. I was able to personally visit there a few years ago, and thought it fitting to post the pictures of all the graves I had pictures of.

Glad to help. The stone had broken off its base, but was in good condition. This cemetery is well kept and well documented.

RE: Sally Kitchen
There is a Kitchen who married into my family. My great great aunt Martha Emmons married Grafton Zimmerman. They Lived in Macon County, MIssouri. Their daughter Nettie Mae Zimmerman married Augustus David Loring. Their daughter Ella Jane Loring married William Cunningham. Their daughter Jewel Freda Cunningham married David Delford Kitchen. David Kitchen's parents were Scully Kitchen and Jessie Zenoba Roland. Grandparents of David Kitchen were George Kitchen and Alice Summers. They had a daughter Sally Kitchen born 1890 died 1890). Alice died in child birth. George married again to a Cora Alice West.

So, the one family tree on the web DickieVaughn 13 has it incorrect about Sally Kitchen being the grandmother, she was David's Aunt. His father's sister. David's grandmother was Alice Summers:
Marriage Record of George Kitchen and Alice Summers:
Name: George Kitchens Marriage Date: 27 Feb 1887 Marriage Location: Henry, Missouri Marriage County: Benton Spouse Name: Alice C Samers.

David Kitchens children are my distant cousins through his wife Jewel Freda Cunningham.

I did go ahead and link Alva to his parents and then made the transfer of management to you for both Alva and Selma. I don't know why I didn't do this earlier :(

Thank you so much Daniel and Carolyn. I never saw my sister's grave site until I saw it a few moments ago in a picture you had posted. It had quite an unexpected impact and means quite more than I thought it would.

Thank you and God Bless,

Steve (also USN, 1979-1983)

RE: Melvin Vaughn ~ Mt Zion Cemetery

You're very welcome ... happy to do it.

There is a contact person listed on a sign at the Cemetery, Joan Stringer in Commerce with a phone number (photo on main page for Mt Zion). She is the daughter of Nita Cravens Herman mentioned in the old USGen inventory as the "cemetery records keeper". I would start there.

I don't know if you noticed it (or not); but I added some additional information to the plot photo in Melvin Vaughn memorial which I found after my message to you. I believe that Bettie Jean Vaughn is likely to be one of the infants at rest in the plot, although her name does not appear in the old USGen inventory.

You can probably get a transfer of management of this Vaughn memorial. The current manager of record, Leroy Hansen, is a "fallen graver"; and someone else is probably managing his inventory.

Melvin Vaughn ~ Mt Zion Cemetery
In regard to your photo request ...

The source from which the Find A Grave memorial of Melvin Vaughn was created is (apparently)an inventory (or transcription) which is submitted by Marcille B Tucker to an internet website hosted by the USGen Web Project, although Ms Tucker may have collaborated with Nita Cravens Herman (called the "Cemetery Records Keeper" in the online posting).

According to that inventory, Melvin Vaughn, whose date of death was cited as "193?", lies at rest in Section SE, Row 1, Space 8. Furthermore, according to that inventory, Effie Vaughn lies at rest in Space 5, Hughes Vaughn in Space 6, an Infant of M H Vaughn in Space 7, and another Infant Vaughn in Space 9 ... all in that same Row 1; HOWEVER, I found that those five spaces ARE NOT marked by separate gravestones. Instead, there is but a single stone at that location which is inscribed, "M H Vaughn's".

You are welcome for the photos. I don't know of any Vaughns living in Plainview. However, there are lots of them buried in Hale County. You can check them out by pasting this link in your browser.
