Lillian Hornbeck

Lillian is my 2nd cousin and she was adopted. From what we can find out her mother Florence Garrison was married before to a Becker and then Lillian was adopted by Floyd Young, Florence's second husband. The 1930 census has her as adopted daughter of Floyd and Florence Young.

Her grave stone has the name of Becker and when Liliian's daughter Joan died in 2012, I went to the grave side service and Lillian's sister was there and the name Becker was mentioned but nothing indicated it was wrong.

I will post the obit if you want. Let me know

McKevitt Family
Hi Sharon,

Anna McKevitt Hoferer was my great aunt. My grandfather was her older brother John Joseph McKevitt. Anna was the Matron of Honor at my grandparents wedding on 12/31/1924. Grandmother was Elfreida (Betty) Huppenthal McKevitt. My Dad was born on 10/8/1925. Anna was also his Godmother. Unfortunatley my grandparents divorced when my Dad was very young. There was no contact with the McKevitt family that we were aware of. Like you, I went from knowing very little to learning much. Do you, by chance have any photos of Anna, and/or her parents Margaret Murray and Philip McKevitt?

Work done by Sharon and other Memorial Volunteers will be used in the upcoming Volume XV of the De Puy Family History. A lot of information was gleaned from the Krumville Cemetery and surrounding area that these volunteers have encompassed. I know what Sharon means by "almost obsession". It is indeed an honor to recognize them and their work.

Alexander Speers' (95233441) sister Clara
Hi Sharon,

I'm hoping you can add to Alexander's bio, since there's no way to link siblings other than thru their parents' memorials, that his sister Clara Speers Skerritt is Find A Grave Memorial# 51533644, buried in the Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, Ulster Co.

I've modified Clara's bio already with her brother's Find A Grave info.

RE: Hoferer
Hi Sharon,
Carl Hoferer (1836 - 1900) in Knox County, NE is my gg grandfather and my Hoferer immigrant. If you look for Alva Van Houten in Wisconsin on Find A Grave you will have my Dad. His maternal grandmother is the link going back to Carl. You should be able to follow it on Find A Grave as I think I have it all linked. Carl's father is Joseph Hoferer (1807 - 1855) and his father is Barthelama Hoferer (1757 - 1834)and the next generation back is Nicholai Hoferer. I remember that I thought I had found your immigrant ancestor but do not remember anything else about him.

RE: Schoonmaker Family
In case you are interested I found some Schoonmaker's at Wonx Spring Cem in Southington Ct and I think because I got the photos at a nearby antique store that this is the family they got them from. I hope that helps you fill out some family information:

RE: Hoferer
Hi Sharon,
No I am sorry to say my genealogy has been suffering. I have health issues that consume a lot of my time. The one thing I still do is Findagrave. I can go out to a local cemetery, take photos until I am tired and then come home and put them on Find A Grave. The sad thing is I have LDS films on indefinite loan at the local Family History Center here. I know there is more Hoferer info in them. All I need to do is get to sifting through them.

RE: Schoonmaker Family
Hi I am so glad you found the photo. I happened to get them when I purchased some old photos at an antique store in CT. The person who initially made the memorial - the manager, may be able to tell you more because she is related.

RE: Floyd Swehla
Hello Sharon, Sorry it took me so long to answer your inquiry. My research regarding Floyd Swehla was his mother, Elsie Buley's family. The only info I have regarding his wife is that she was Doris Claus and died Feb. 1978, I don't have any info regarding their son. Please get in touch with me, as I would like to update the info on their son. Thank you so much. Joan Payne

pre need memorial
I will delete the memorials you requested. The memorials were added before the following was added to the Find A Grave rules.

Is it acceptable to add a memorial for someone who is still living?
Please try to avoid it. In general, we do not encourage adding memorials for individuals who are still living. We do realize, however, that when transcribing a cemetery, it is not always possible to determine if the person is living or not. Please do not add pre-need memorials from (1931-present) to Find A Grave. Memorials for individuals who are alive will be removed when requested (the exception being for 'famous' individuals who already have a burial location in place). You are always welcome to create a 'pre-need' memorial for yourself, if you would like, provided that you have a pre-need headstone already in place in a cemetery.
