RE: Mary Barker
Thank you for your clarifications. As you are family, I will accept that the Glenwood Emma foot stone, just her name, nothing else, is not for William D. Mendenhall's wife Emma, even though he was married to Emma before their divorce, after which she became Mary Emma Barker.

I suppose it could be a memorial stone in her memory placed after her death, or even before her death as she may have been dead to him following divorce. There are many possibilities and I have so little to go on.

In light of that fact, I will reduce my memorial to only her name. And I thank you for your help with this.

RE: Photo requests at Chapel of the Pines
I will do my best to see what I can get out of them. With 82 requests, they just might tell me to take a hike. hehe. this will take some time, and I have had a conversation with the director, and gave him the list, so will have to give it a week or so and see what he does. I am sure this is not his only priority.

Illinois Roy
Catherine Tubbs
I'm looking for the burial place of Catherine(Zimmer) Tubbs. Born Apr 19, 1790 and died Oct 21, 1855. All I know is she was buried in an abandoned cemetery in Algonquin, Il.. Her stone was removed by Abrahm & Howard Tubbs in 1913 and brought to their farm in Whitewater, Wi. Do you know of any abandoned cemeteries in Algonquin?

Belzorah Hunt Barker
Are you a descendant of Belzorah Hunt Barker? Belzorah's father, John Lafayette Hunt, was a first cousin of my grandfather, Marion Dee Hunt.

Tubbs - Marriages
Does anyone have supporting evidence for this statement? (What identifies Sarah Ann and Elizabeth as sisters)?

HENRY TUBBS 1904 McHenry County, IL
"Henry Tubbs was the son of Peter and Catharine (Zimmer) Tubbs. His brother Merritt married Sarah's sister Elizabeth."

Thanks, I appreciate any hints. You send them directly to me at bbarkerjr@gmail.com

RE: CHARLES AND CORA MINARD
Thanks for that information, Dean.

I did check the Illinois Death Certificates database (http://www.ilsos.gov/isavital/idphdeathsrch.jsp) but there are no entries for these people.

In general, I would tend to believe the dates on grave markers over obituaries or indexes of obituaries, as the markers are "written in stone." The markers must have been seen by survivors and any errors, I'd think, would have been corrected. I know personally that nowadays, markers are made from "proofs" that are approved by the purchaser prior to production.

With obituaries, one person writes them, and maybe the same person relays that obit to an editor at a newspaper, who relays the info to a typesetter. There's plenty of room for error. And in the case of this index, you add another person transcribing what they've seen in a newspaper to the index, and now another person transcribing it to computer formats. More room for error.

CHARLES AND CORA MINARD
Hi.

Would you mind sending me the links to the obituaries you mentioned in which the dates of death for both Charles and Cora are off by a year. I tried finding obits online but was unsuccessful. Thank you.
