I spoke to the pastor who performed Mr. Hornaday's service and he told me he was buried in the Ahrens' plot (Ahrens is his wife's maiden name) and that the burial took place in the spring when the weather warmed up.

Today I took a photo of the "slab" that is awaiting the headstone for Mr. Hornaday. I called Ketterhagen Memorials while I was at the cemetery as there was a "red flag" next to the slab with their name and phone number on it. The woman said there is a "hold up by the family" preventing the placement of the stone.

I will add the photo I took of the "slab" to his memorial page for now and will keep checking for the actual headstone at which time I will take a picture of it and post it to his memorial page.

I will let you know when the stone is finally in place.

Charles D. "Chuck" Hornaday
UPDATE!!! I found another obituary for Chuck and it lists the services as being held at the First Congregational Church in Mukwonago, WI. I called the church and the office secretary did have a service listed for him on February 8. The pastor is on vacation until Sept. 9, but she will ask him if he remembers the burial (and he probably will because he's only 35!) and maybe I can hone in on the exact location. If there is no marker at least I'll find out more about the actual burial. I'll keep you posted.

I read his obituary and do not see any connection to Mukwonago, WI where Oak Knoll Cemetery is located. I walked 3/4 of the cemetery this morning before the humidity got to me and I did not find a headstone for him. It is going to be hot and humid the rest of the week so I won't check the rest of the cemetery until next week. The old section is the only area left for me to check. Is is possible he is buried in another Oak Knoll Cemetery?

Thank-you very much for taking the time to get this photo for me. Looks like they haven't put the death year on the plaque yet. Thanks again!

Orrel Williams
Thank you very much for the photos and transfer. I have linked her to her parents and will add her bio later tomorrow. Her parents are buried just up the street from my house beside Orrel's sister Edith, my grandmother. Harry, their only brother died of rheumatic fever at the age of 10. Great Grandpa McKinley (their father) lived with Orrel for a while in Nebraska City and my family for a while here in Iowa after Grandma McKinley died too young. He and I were great "buddies" when I was a child. We walked to the library, the park, the barber shop and much more. I don't want to bore you with details of this little family reunion; however, I am hoping this will help you understand how important your act of kindness is to me. Paul Rolfe

Info for Peter Anthony
Hi! Can you please call or e-mail the cemetery and ask for the Section, Lot, and Grave numbers and then add this information to the online record? This helps the photo volunteers to find the grave marker.

Elmwood is a huge cemetery and this information is needed in order to fulfill your request. I have located more than 50 graves at Elmwood for Find A Grave, but I cannot find a grave for you without the burial plot information.

Thank you! Ace

I just know of the date of death, and someone else sent the date of birth..

What would you like me to do???

You have me confused now. The tombstone picture tells the story, I would send for the Obituary..
