RE: Rufus King and son, Jeptha King
I knew I remembered the name, but, have been searching for the 992 men who served in the 86th and for information about photographs of them for over 30 years now and don't remember how everyone is connected. Keep me informed of any new information or pictures that I should add to their sites. Thanks and Thanks for all you have done in the past to make these biographies what they are. Sincerely, Baxter

Rufus King and son, Jeptha King
Carolyn, I was glad to see someone had sponsored the Find A Grave sites of Rufus and Jeptha King. Are you related? I am hoping some family member will see these sites and help me establish where the mortal remains of these two men are buried. Hope to hear from you. Baxter

No problem. I understand how that happens. I only discovered the error when researching the Bainbridge area for headstones that needed cleaning or replacing. I am the president of the Whigham Family Association and we have made it our mission to clean and/or replace the headstones of our ancestors who have been dead for 100 years or longer. If I can ever help you out in the central Illinois area, feel free to contact me directly. Nancy

No problem. The cemetery is within 10 miles of me and I have a lot of family buried there. It's a nice peaceful cemetery that I love walking through.

I believe I know where Jacob is buried, but I'm really busy with a project. If you will email me direct at, title your email JACOB EDDLEMON (in caps), I will try to get you info you are wanting. Barb

So, it looks like you and Barb MacNeil (she also left a message on my member page) are related to the Eddlemon name (by marriage, not blood)

I just sent you an email to your address.

I just found his wife at Madronia, too.

RE: Jacob Eddlemon 29064321
I am 100% confident that he is buried at Madronia in Saratoga, CA. I know the woman who photographed his grave marker, and I probably also have a photo of his grave marker.

This information comes directly from the official Madronia cemetery records:

Eddleman, Jacob Henry
2/4/1857 - 9/13/1916
Interred: September 15, 1916
Plot: 56 12 South side
Cause of death: chronic cystites (cystitis)

What makes you think he was buried in Ft. Scott Kansas?

By the way, I noticed in the 1910 census, his 40 year old nephew Byron B Helm was living with him. So ..... I searched at Madronia on Byron, and sure enough, Byron is buried at Madronia, too! They are both buried in section 56, very close to each other. Byron is in plot #1 (no marker) and Jacob is in plot #12.

This is the cemetery record for Byron:
Helm, Byron B.
Interred: September 21, 1936
Plot: 56 1, no marker
Died 9/19/1936, age 69 y, 18 d

I will link the two memorials together in the bi sections so at least there is some sort of link between the two of them! :)

Hi again!

I noticed that you sponsored the memorial for Jacob Eddlemon (29064321).

If you are related I would be happy to transfer his memorial to your care.

Let me know.

Hello again,

I just checked the memorials and both are still there. Since you didn't create either memorial, you would have to contact the original creator in order for them to delete it. You would have to transfer the memorial to them first, then they can delete it.

I suggest that you send an email to Find A Grave and just have them merged. That way everything it saved and nothing is lost. This way you don't have to contact the original creator, either.

It would also be nice if Find A Grave gave you a sponsorship credit ($5) for some other memorial since you unknowingly sponsored the same person twice. You should ask them.

I think that the email address you want to contact them at is

Just explain that you want the two memorials merged and provide the two ID's:
Alonzo Beal
22664358 (created in 2007)
117872434 (created in 2013)

Then ask them if they will credit you one sponsorship for another memorial since you sponsored both and they are being merged into one.

RE: Alonzo Beal
Hi Carolyn,

I haven't checked the memorials... perhaps you already figured it all out.

If you want to merge both of them, you just need to send an email to the Find A Grave administrators and they will merge both of them for you.

Deb :)
