I found George's grave site, but there is no headstone. When you look at the photo, take note where the cement curb is; facing one direction and then the opposite, and the names on the headstones of those buried around him. The flag pole is facing east.

RE: Cousins
Kerri,

Yes I would like to see your tree. I am on ancestry. I am working on 5 different trees / my adoptive parents / my wife's parents and my birth mother. We are related through her: Zella Marie Harris. She married Clarence Shipman but he is not my father. Too make a long story short, I found out I was adopted 3 years ago at age 65. I have met one of my step-brothers and we did a DNA test: 94% same mother; 96% different father.
Zella's tree is somewhat finished - I still have to go back and double check everything. I keep finding mothers giving birth at age 9 of having children after they died. But I find it fasinating and frustrating. On the other four family trees, the hard part is trying to bring them up to date.

Let me know how to access your tree and PLEASE let me know if you find any errors.

Ron, your third cousin (I was never very good at figuring out this cousin relationship thing!)

RE: Benjamin Thomas Fleming
Kerri,

You are welcome. I've also created a Find-A-Grave memorial for Lillian Lera Smith Fleming Mullins - #128788439 and this includes a photo of her grave marker. I am happy to help with Benjamin Fleming research, but I don't know if I have much more information than you already have. I do have some info on his second wife, Alice - including a water-color done by her and copies of letters she sent to Benjamin's daughter Thelma.

Benjamin Thomas Fleming
Karri,

We've communicated through Ancestry.com a while back. My grandmother, Lillian Lera Smith married Benjamin Thomas Fleming in Bowie, Texas on March 30, 1902. I recently came across a family photograph of Lillian taken by a professional photographer in Bowie, Texas that we estimate was taken about 1902, making Lillian 19 years old. There is a good chance that this is her wedding photo based on the way she is dressed. I have posted this photo on Lillian's memorial site #128788439. You have our family's permission to use this photo. I wish to thank you for the excellent biographies you have posted on the Fleming family memorials. Since Benjamin is the grandfather of my cousin Beverly, this information is especially significant for her. I am just getting into Find A Grave and am really impressed with the information that I am finding there. The memorials you are managing are the best I've seen.

You are welcome. I would be interested to know a bit about him. the cemetery is the original town cem. and a lot of the "founders" are buried there. However, it is in a great state of disrepair and damage.

RE: JE Brents
His mother's obit is on her memorial page and it has: wife of John Brents. 1880 census has him as age 46. Her obit also states: Her death was indeed a sad one. The only witnesses to it were her half-dozen little children....So I don't know if John had died before her or just wasn't home when she passed away but I would think her obit would have said that she was the wife of the late John Brents if he had passed away by then. She died in 1887.

Hi Kerry
I'm sorry I know nothing about the Litterals. I do have KY roots going back to the 1700s, but none of this branch. I live in GA. If you would like me to transfer Henry to you, I would be happy to, just let me know thru the edit tab.

Spring Hill Cemetery
As you have probley noticed on this Cemeterys request thingy there is over 113 requests that have not as yet gotten fullfilled and they may not either if the requestors dont call the Spring Hill office for the locations .
So you may have to delete the original request and do over by calling the Cemetery office for location of interment.

I suggest you may have to call the Funeral Home Office and ask for the locations of any of your loved ones . And then put the location section in the request so the people who go to take pics wont have to go to the office to ask for the locations .
615-865-1101

The last times I went to ask for locations , the people in the office there said, they would have to charge non family members 5 dollars to look up locations, because they were much too busy helping the family members of interments .
Good luck in your Ancestry searches

I believe you are mistaken about her having children. I have already linked her to her parents and her ex-husband. Thank you for adding family photos. Your transfer request does not meet the guidelines of Find A Grave. "Any transfer requests should only be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren."

Kerri, I plan on going to Retrop Cemetery in the next couple of days. I haven't been out there in a couple of years and need to follow up. Lots of pictures need to be taken.

Carter and Retrop are about 12 miles apart. Not much left of Retrop anymore. I will see if I created any memorials for the Streets and transfer them to you.

Just transfered your uncle to you. I hope to get back out to Retrop Cemetery in the next couple of days, now that it is cooler. Hopefully will be able to find his grave and take a picture of his marker.

Hi,
I made the corrections and linked Kerri with her parents that are also buried there in the Poarch Cemetery. I was going to link her with her first husband Ben Waldrop but I wanted to make sure with you first if you knew if he went by "Bennie". I found a Bennie Waldrop buried there but didn't want to link him with Fannie unless I was 100% sure. Also I am curious if Fannie's mother's maiden name was "Bohannon" and if so, did you request that it be added to her memorial? I just know how important that can be and has been to me and so it makes me curious when I come across it.

Let me know if you know about Ben/Bennie and I will be happy to link them together. Thank you for sending the info! Staci
