I noticed on Esther M Christie Bowling's bio that she was your great aunt. My work on this site is tracing the lines of the Cole family and all descendants down to living. I am descended from Bridget Cole's brother (Benjamin Willis's brother in-law) Isaac Cole. Which I figure makes us around 5th cousins or so.

Janey what a beautiful note thanks kindly! You are so sweet to do such, much appreciated. I just watched it again with a friend and I end up with tears of joy and saddness both every time I see it, knowing all those gals went thru and survived but also lost. I loved going on the tour and knowing I'd lived in the very town as a kid and knew nothing. Reading the book is how I got into genealogy '97 and remembering many stories my granny has told when a young girl. I so enjoy researching that family so much and so thankful my 3x Ashby granny lived or I would not be here for sure! Blessings to you and yours, happy trails.

Thank you so much! Yes staph sure does stink. I would not want to go through something like that again.

You're welcome but thank you for getting me back into the Washington Cemetery. I need to get things from that one that I've been putting off.

This old chick has no idea what ib is but the only address I can find isn't for the cemetery but the Sexton John Hurley lives at 460 Old 51 Carsonville, Michigan 48419 The old sexton kept the records at his home so I'm sure John Hurley does too!

I did add Mary L (Odle) the wife of Willard D Caughel and what I found on her children to Find a Grave in Washington Cemetery. Good Luck with the Family Search.

You're right...I've looked and I can't find her either. I have a few in my family like that. So upsetting!

RE: Effie Caughel marker
Good morning Janey I will get to the cemetery probably tomorrow to get the pictures you want. In the meantime the Sandusky library website has a nice genealogy section at the link below:

when it comes up click on the word genealogy at the top. When that comes up you can write in the search box the name you are searching and click search. If you use a first and last name in the search box also click (close by) after the search box, then you should get only the ones you might be looking for. I know that there are the Caughel, Nichol and Willis names in Washington. If there are any that I have added that you want just let me know I'll turn them over to you. That should keep you busy....Happy hunting.

Effie Caughel marker
Hi Janey I went to the Washington cem. today. I found the family Caughel plot with Chancy in it. I took a photo of the plot after looking at all 8 stones. In line left to right is Ana May then the tall family marker then a very small stone with nothing on it (this may be Effie since it is next to Chancy) then Chancy the row in front of those are left to right Charles then Abner then Mary C. then Father 1833-1910. Would you like the very small marker added or the photo of the whole plot or wait to see if you find out where Effie is for sure? The Sexton is John Hurley at 810-404-9794 if you would like to call him.

RE: Thank you for taking
My pleasure. I am in the process of taking pictures of stones all over this county. If you have any other requests, let me know. My specialties are small cemeteries.

Lee Willis
Hi Janey, I can't link up Benjamin to Lee, links can only be added as parents or spouses, not children. You would have to ask whoever manages Lee's memorial.

Thanks Janey - I removed the father.

Philip DeGeer
No, we are not related. Larry agreed to let me maintain records he created on FindAGrave for Howard Lake because I have researched the cemetery records as well as birth, death and census records for people buried there and have been able to add detail to the information he first entered. I also have photographed about 2/3 of the tombstones in the cemetery.
It looks like Philip's father, John DeGeer, is also listed on Find A Grave in Ontario, Canada

Wow is all I can say! The photos you sent leave one speechless. The white dove perched above was by no means a freak thing that it lingered behind! Thanks so much for sharing the photos. I will have to go back through my pictures I have laying around. I did not have a digital camera back in 2006 so I took several photos by old fashioned film of the procession as it came through the town of Trimont, MN the last town before the cemetery. My daughter and I stood on Hwy 4 as the procession passed through town that day. It was a sight I will never forget. The American flag waves high above Brent's resting place at the cemetery and everytime I pass by I glance over and am reminded of the sacrifice he and so many have made for me. Thanks again for what you did the day of Brent's funeral and all the other funerals you have been present for. Keep up the good work here too on Find A Grave. I have been on this sight for many years, and just love helping people as I can with photo requests. It's a great place for family research. Thanks again. I so appreciated seeing the photos! Have a great weekend.

Yes! I would love to see the photo you have from the day of Sgt Brent Koch's burial. It would be an honor to look at it. Thanks for asking! You can email it to my contact email address listed under my profile here on Find A Grave. Suzanne

Sgt Brent Koch
You are welcome! Thank you for your part in giving Sgt Brent Koch the special honor he so deserved. He is buried not far from my home, and I stood on Hwy 4 with a flag the day he was brought to Elm Creek to his final resting place. It was a sight I will never forget. I visit his grave yearly now to pay my respects. He was a special young man to so many in this area.
