Frances Ophilia Skinner Proffitt (1864 - 1933)
Frances Ophilia Skinner Proffitt (1864 - 1933) would be my Great, Great, Grandmother.

Frances Ophilia Skinner Proffitt
Frances Ophilia Skinner Proffitt (wife of John McKindred Proffitt) seems to have been from a prominent family the Skinners. I remember my Grandfather JD talking about them. One of the Skinners was president of a local bank in Jonesburg or nearby. I drove down from Cedar Rapids to visit Jonesburg last week and took a picture of the Skinner family tombstone at the cemetery. This tombstone has a family tree of Skinners going back to 17th century Scotland. I took a picture of it and will post it when I have a chance. I guess the best place for me to post it would be Frances Ophilia Skinner Proffitt's profile as she is my closest Skinner relative.

Emmitt Clayton Proffitt
My Great Grandfather Emmitt Clayton Proffitt and his wife also had a younger daughter named Betty. She married Eddie Clark. I believe they live in St. Charles. They had 2 sons (Craig and JR).

Wow, that's great. I'll look up your Proffitt profile on Ancestry.com as soon as I get a chance.

Thank you for taking my Aunt Pearl and Uncle Jim's memorial pictures. There is another Navy memorial where they have their names with a picture engraved. I have a not very good picture of it that my mother took years ago. If I post the picture could you find out more about it, or take a new picture for me? All my mother knows is that it was located on a mountain by the coast. LOL (She is 82.) They were remarkable people, I am so proud to have known them!

Proffitt
Emmitt Clayton Proffitt was my Great Grandfather. His son JD Proffitt was my Grand Father. JD grew up on the family farm near Jonesburg MO, he worked at a company called Binkley's -- I believe it was in Warrenton, lived briefly in St. Louis, served with the US Army in the Pacific during WWII, and settled in Marion IA after the war. He married Neoma Ward in 1946, they had 2 children (Monnie [my mother] and Jim). JD worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 42 years retiring in 1988. He passed away in 2009 and his grave is located at Cedar Memorial Cemetary in Cedar Rapids, IA. He has 2 children my a first wife (John and Janet who I do not remember). My grandfather JD was as nice of a person as you would ever meet.

RE: ROBY Headstones
I found a book in Willard Library in Evansville, IN that has many more names for this old cemetery. Apparently, it was done many years ago when the tombstones were in much better shape.

I hope to have them updated to Find a Grave soon.

RE: Thanks for the photo!
They were close to the road where the snowplow had covered them with extra snow so it took 2 attempts to find them.

Gertrude D. Hulse
Sorry, but Gertrude does not have a stone. I included a photo showing the graves of Ida, & Charles & the grave where Gertrude is. Jacob is to the right of Ida (not in photo).
Let me know if you want the photos removed.

John T. Dale
I believe this is the John Dale that you are looking for, beside him is buried America Ann Dale McDaniel 1867-1955. I figured she might be a sister & "Dale" was a maiden name but I corrected her maiden now.
We just received another 3" of additional snow this morning but will get you a photo as soon as possible.

Ludwig Hermann
Hi. I want to take the Hermann pictures, but couldn't find them today. I was at Irving Park Cemetery and used the plot guide markers left in the notes for Ludwig. My husband and I canvassed all of section 31 in the Chapel section. Is there any information we are missing?
We stopped at the office and they want $10 just for any location on the list of 100-something photo requests in the cemetery. :(
Your location was one of three with any guides to it from the list so we looked for it. If I am right, S 1/2-5 means the lot inside section 31? Just trying to make sure we didn't miss something. Willing to go back. Thanks.

Samuel and Sarah McDowell
You're welcome. I had been wanting to drive over to Trimble County, KY to find the Sidebottom-Tharp Cemetery and the McDowell headstones. Too bad they weren't there anymore. I'm not even sure the graves were ever moved though, just the headstones

I am related to Samuel's son John Allen. I have very little information on Samuel or Sarah besides what is posted here and a possible death record from Mercer County for Samuel.

You are welcome. I only recently learned of all the requests on line. Visiting cemeteries has been a hobby of mine for since I was a kid. I am happy to help. Someday, someone will find my gr-grandfathers grave for me, too.

RE: ROBY Headstones
I have seen your name in many of my searches. I assume that you saw there are two other Roby's buried in this hidden little cemetery. Let me know if you need more. The size limitation hides some detail. If you want me to email a larger photo, my email address is gmcd@roadrunner.com
