RE: Howarth mem # 95182912
Hi Deborah,

The information for James Marion Howarth's memorial came primarily from his obituary; his Missouri death certificate; and census records. I also used and RootsWeb for a small amount of supplemental data. I up-dated it this afternoon after hearing from you.

James' son, Jim Howarth, was a friend of the family for many years. He passed away last year, but his son, Jason, has a Find A Grave contributor number. He is a wonderful guy. You might try contacting him to see if he has any photographs of his grandfather to share with you.

Most links won't go through when leaving a message this way on Find A Grave, so you may have to cut and paste the following link in your address bar. This should take you to Jason's contributor page where you can leave a message for him:

If that doesn't work, let me know and I will see if I can come up with another way for you to contact him.

Good luck.

Willie Davis
I have been looking for any evidence of the Howarth in the Crawford, Gasconade and Phelps county Missouri area. There is none found. That is not to say that they weren't there. No one is alive now that would remember. Sorry.

Willie Davis
Very interesting. I will have to snoop around and see what I can come up with. May take awhile. We are distant cousins then. My Grandmother and Willie were first cousins.

Willie Davis
I really wonder if we are talking about the same Davis. I have never heard of any persons with that last name. I know Willie's wife Mary's Maiden name way Pope and Willie never remarried after she died.

Feel free to add any pictures you care to add, I believe these are both sponsored entries so you can add unlimited pictures.

Do you by chance have a obituary for Maternal your Great Grandmother ? Some how I have lost my copy or can't locate it right now.

Isaiah Bowen
Isaiah Bowen was the son of Thomas and his first wife Nancy Agnes Crea. After Nancy died he married Elizabeth Spicer Bowen. To correct something I had stated earlier. Thomas was only married twice not three times, my mistake. Isaiah's wife was Nancy Sturgeon. Isaiah and Nancy are buried in the Bowen
Cemetery. A majority of their children are buried there also.

I also didn't know that Willie "Bud" Davis had a son Leonard. Very interesting.

Hi, Deborah -- I would be happy to transfer those pages to you if I could, but I'm not the person who added them. Only the person who added them can transfer them -- somebody going by the Find-a-Grave name "A Friend" did.

Peter C and Matilda B Davis
I knew Willie "Bud" Davis quite well when I was growing up on Jake Prairie,Mo. What was your Grandfathers name? Willie has as daughter Eva Ruth Davis-Spurgeon buried in the Licklider Cemetery on Jake Prairie. His sons Charles "Chink" Davis and Francis Davis are buried in the Bowen along with their sister Oletta Davis Maves. Francis was killed in WWII after the war they had his body sent home.
Bud's wife died in 1950 I just remember that. I also knew Charles "Chink" Davis. As far as sites that I look at, I mainly just google the name and see where it leads me. I also get information from other family sites that are connected to the Davises in one way or another. It can be a rather frustrating process the further back in time you go.
Elijah Davis was as far back as I could find.

I do not have any info concerning Peter but I do have the following about Matilda. They were my Great Great Grandparents:
Matilda was the daughter of Isaiah and Nancy (Sturgen/Spurgeon) Davis.
Isaiah was born 7 December 1784, Davistown, Greene

His father was Thomas Bowen who was born 17 April 1747, Parish Llangennech Carmathen Wales. Thomas came to the USA and settled in Davistown, Pa. He died on 19 December 1810 Davistown, Pa. Isaiah's mother was one Nancy Agnes Crea, Thomas's first wife. Thomas was married 3 times. Isaiah's mother Nancy Sturgin Bowen was born 29 March 1787 and Married Isaiah on 1 May 1806, Uniontown, Fayette Cty. Pa. Nancy died on 11 October 1856, Red Bird, Mo. and is buried in the Bowen Cemetery.

RE: John D Davis

When I take pictures of a cemetery, I take all the stones . There was probably 20 stones or better that were hard to read, some of them in the dirt, broken or just cover with moss or faded. Marble stones do not weather well. I still take pictures of all of them and blow them up large on the computer and leave them to last to see if I can find part of name, birth date or the death date, them compare them to the records of the cemetery. I don't keep the pictures after I add them to the cemeteries. Sometimes the last living spouse doesn't get a stone, either money problems, no one to buy one and etc.
I'm sorry couldn't help.
