Seeking family of NEWTON ALEXANDER THROOP (1840-1914), listed on AskART as NEWTON ALLEN THROOP (1841-1914), famed painter of cattle.THE (Town of )LAKE VINDICATOR,March 8,1884,p.4: Englewood--Mr. Newton A. Throop, of Englewood, has entered a business for himself as a sketcher and engraver for Chicago, and this week the U.S.VETERINARY (livestock) JOURNAL pays him a compliment as having "established quite an enviable reputation both as a sketcher and engraver." I have a piece of LETTERHEAD of ENGLEWOOD OPERA HOUSE (Lanyon Opera House)engraved by Throop. I am writing the first spreadsheet from the American point of view about 19th century rotunda panoramas. These were the biggest paintings in the world, 50 x 400=20,000 square feet, housed in their own rotundas which were 16-sided polygons. Chicago in 1893 had 6 panorama companies and 6 panorama rotundas. Howard H. Gross (1853-1920) of Englewood from 1885-88 produced units of BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG and JERUSALEM ON THE DAY OF THE CRUCIFIXION for cities from coast to coast and beyond: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, Europe, South America. I would like to know if THROOP made an etching of the Reed & Gross panorama studio located "near the Rock Island Railway tracks" in Englewood. INFO TO SHARE. RE: Youngblood Sister?
Sorry I overlooked your message.

I recently had an email from a Youngblood researcher who says a direct descendant of Isaiah Youngblood had a DNA test connecting him to John Miles Youngblood b. 1708 in MD, d. abt 1787 in Richmond co., GA. A whole new direction from any I'd heard before. Perhaps you can make that connection for Christina.

We have never had any info about Isaiah's siblings or anything but a mysterious single letter giving the names of parents who have yet to appear in the records. I have always found it odd we have so much on Isaiah himself as well as his children, but not a hint of his origins. We do know he was a Primitive Baptist Minister, so it would not be unusual if he officiated at a wedding.

Another interesting possible clue, though. Let me know if you find anything!

Kevin, I recently added some info to Thomas' memorial. I see no need in adding his burial date.

Kevin, you have added a photograph to Kevin's memorial and it is vertical. Could you please rotate it where it is horizontal and in upright position? It is a very good photograph but hard on the neck looking at it the way it is now. Thank you, Kaye Harkins McClintock

RE: John Dowson Long & wife Jane
John was my 3rd great uncle. His parents were my 3rd great grandparents. I have been tracing this line for over 21 years. As for Jane, her obituary states that her middle initial was T. Her headstone says F, which could stand for Fulton. I've also seen her name as Emma Jane, Jean, Jean Jane, Jennie & Jeannie. There is a possibility that her parents were William Fulton & Jane Russell. There is also the possibility that William was in the civil war, Union side, & was captured & died of starvation at a prison 2 months before the war ended. If these are Jane's parents, then her 1st name is Jean & she was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. This would make sense since John & his family settled in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania for awhile after coming to America. And John & Jane's first known child, Clara, was born in Pennsylvania. However, I have not yet come across any solid evidence for any of this except that Clara was born in Pennsylvania & then they had a son born in Iowa 3 years later.

Hi Kevin, I don't mind making additions to memorials, but felt it better that you have Auguste's memorial since she is your wife's family. Plus you can add things when you want to and not have to wait on someone else. :) Regards, Nadeen

RE: Ignatzius Eichinger Dates
Hi Kevin,

It is possible that the person who gave the information to the census taker misunderstood what was being asked for and listed Ignatzius as the head of the house, as father of the children, even though he was deceased. Just a possibility. I don't have any other info on the family for you. If you check with the cemetery office, they can tell you the date of interment and if it was before 1920, that means a mistake was made on the census.

Ignatzius Eichinger Dates
Hi Kevin,

Regarding the census where he appears two years after his death (death year according to the headstone), he did have a son named Ignatius, so is it possible that's who appears on the census you mention? And no, I am not a relative and have not seen an obit.

I really don't know any more about this family. I just visited the cemetery and added the photos with a quick search for biography information, back in 2009. If you find out more and would like me to add it or transfer to you, just ask.
