Pete Mohney
Lena Johnson - part 2
Well, never mind - the death record is for Lena's husband; Lena shows a couple of censuses, 1930 and 9140 after her husband died in 1924, where she was living in Birmingham. I guess we'll just have to hope that someone eventually stumbles over her plot, as the Elmwood staff have no record of where she is.

Lena Johnson
The cemetery office at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama, has been unable to find a record for Lena Johnson, b. 1880, d. 1941. She is actually on the site as Lena Odessa Schooley Johnson. However, on the Alabama, Deaths and Burials Index, 1881-1974, the record says she died in Greenville, Butler County, Alabama, and was buried in Pine Crest Cemetery (I don't find any record of her being buried there though). I have emailed the cemetery to see if they have a record of her.

Frederick Banta

I'm trying to help you out with your photo request for Frederick Banta. I tried
one time walking through the GAR section, but the markers there are so weathered
and many of them are virtually not readable. Today I inquired at the cemetery
office for his burial location and I was going to ask them to give me a layout
of the Specific lot showing all the names of the other persons buried in the
adjacent graves. So at least I'd be able to find his place even if were
unmarked. Anyhow after about 15 -20 minutes of searching the staff person told
me that she could not find Frederick Banta at Evergreen. Would you happen to
have a copy of his death certificate? If you do could you forward a copy to me
so I can show the office staff?!

Mr Irby is buried in Chapel Hill Public Lot #2 Sp. 1326. Unfortunately he has no marker. All of the visible stones in this section have been photographed and placed on Find A Grave. Sorry. Will attach a pic of the section and send an edit.

Collins at Pacific Crest
Hi, My son and I photographed your Collin's graves.
Homer and his wife Stacia/Stocia are side by side. Unfortunately, their graves are not very cleaned up. We didn't take tools with us so we asked a maintenance guy. He did a less then desirable job as seen by the photos we uploaded.
If you would call Pac. Crest (310)370-5891 and ask them to properly clean all your Collins headstones we could re-shoot them. If you request them to be cleaned , please let us know so we'll remember to photograph them again.

I'm curious, Stacia/Stocia? Which do you know her by? I have an Irish great aunt Stacia in my line. Her name was Anastacia. Never heard of Stocia.
The condition of the marker makes it tough, the cemetery said it's Stocia. I researched her and found her with both spellings and a few others.
If Stocia is correct, I'd love to know where the name came from.
Also her F.A.G. Memorial says she was born in 1898. The marker says 1899.
A 1910 Arkansas Census lists a Stotie Pemberton as the sister in law to a Willie Grisso (married to Nora.) Stotie was born in Ill. and is age 20 in April 1910. If this is her, the math puts her at 21 in Nov. of 1910, making her birthday 1899. I understand census and vital records are OFTEN incorrect. I do believe some additional expanded research on her is needed. A few people with Trees on Ancestry are claiming all kinds of things. As usual, many questionable.

Good luck.

I just claimed the photo request for Harriet. I was wondering if you were a family member. I am asking since the cemetery has a history of trying to refuse find a grave members in if they aren't family. Please let me know.

Albert/Hannah Banta @ Topeka Cemetery
Cemetery records show they are buried in section 72 lot 53. That lot does not have any markers. I am posting a photo that shows that lot...the flat marker in the lower right of the photo is in lot 18 which is just north of lot 53. You can see 53 is empty.

If you do not want the 'empty' photo on their memorials let me know and I will delete it.

Richard Darwin Lane
I was finally able to confirm that Richard is not buried at Elmwood Cemetery. Like I had mentioned before, there are others, but not Richard. They checked by name and dates. So sorry. I hope you will be able to find him.

Richard Lane
I accepted your picture request on Mr. Lane. I called the cemetery today and the gentlemen there looked Mr. Lane up and as far as he can tell Mr. Lane is not buried there at Elmwood. There are several Lanes, Anna, Debra, Frank, Squire and Violet. I will double check with another of the employees there and try to confirm. I had photographed all of the memorial stones in that cemetery a couple of years ago so am wondering that if he is, in fact, buried there a stone may not be visible. Will check and let you know.

Doing some catch up work on Find A Grave.

The nickname "Bettie" came from a Genealogy Society publication. I have left it in place for the time being. Did you have personal knowledge of this not being correct? If so I will be glad to delete it.
