Cpl Harold H. Hammond
Cpl Harold H. Hammond was a crewmember on board of a medium bomber of the 488th Bomb Squadron, 340th Bomb Group. The plane crashed near Catania (Sicily) on 9 September 1943; crew was killed.

Cpl Harold H. Hammond was buried in the temporary American cemetery GELA on Sicily, where he was buried in grave H-87-1040.

His remains were repatriated after the war. he was buried in the Secona Cemetery in Pickens, S.C.

I am writing a book about the GELA cemetery, where over 1,200 men and women were buried between 1943-1947.

Can I have your permission to use the picture, f course you will be credited and notified when the book is finished

thank you

Lyman Galloway photo, thanks!
Dear Howard,
Thank you for the picture of Lyman C. Galloway's headstone. It was nice of you to take the time to do it, I would have had to travel at least six hours, one way to get it. Would you mind if I post it, with credit to you, on the page I have for him on ancestry.com?
Thank you,
Phil Hunter

Oh, thats ok. Probably time had lapsed and they were removed. It doesn't matter who gets them, as long as we can find them. I love doing research. I hope I hear back from the funeral home. that would be greaat. Have a nice day.
