|Peter Hoover||Susanna Miller|
Thank you very much for adding more information into the marker of Michael and Susanna Miller
Yes, they were definitely husband and wife. And here is a somewhat dubious collection of their family:
Now the only complication with what appears on your page is the fact that Susanna was supposedly born in 1781. Does this appear very clearly on the marker? If so, she must definitely have been a second wife, because the oldest children of this family were born as early as 1760.
Michael was born, supposedly, around 1740. Unlikely he would have had a wife born in 1781, and still having children!
Do you see my problem?
I wish I could just stop there and check that stone out myself, but I live on the north shore of Tasmania, and that is a LONG WAYS to go.
Happy to hear from you,

|Jim Allingham||Peter Henry Strayer (#93255264)|
I got an inquiry from a researcher who wants to know if Salem Union Cemetery is the correct burial place for Peter Henry Strayer (#93255264).
He saw an entry for Peter Strayer (same person - memorial #69030227) who is buried at Lenhart-Gerber.
Since you took the headstone photos and made the initial entry for Peter Henry Strayer, I want to tell him that you are correct since you've extensively photo-documented both cemeteries. But, I just want to make sure.

|William A. Augustine||RE: Strickler cemetery|
I think I made a mistake, and after reading your request, and upon closer examination, I was at the Strickler Cemetery in York County, southwest of Columbia as opposed to southeast. The picture you see for the Lancaster County cemetery is actually from the York County cemetery. As for the directions and mention of Kehler's, I didn't enter those directions. Somebody else did, and the Kehler's mention confused me too, until I concluded it was from former times. I just did some on-line research, drove the Lincoln Highway several times, realized the cemetery in York County (just short of the bridge) is also named Strickler Cemetery and didn't pick-up on the fact it's southwest rather than southeast until I saw your message. I just did some quick research, and this link might cast light on the origin of the directions to which you refer, and it looks to me as though it might date to the 1940s (so I doubt we're likely to find Kehler's now). I followed a couple links, and it looks like one lead for further research might be Franklin & Marshall College. At some point, I may try to find the cemetery again. But looking at the map, it looks like Columbia might well have expanded to cover the cemetery location described in the directions (quick glance at map makes me think Lincoln Highway doesn't pass southeast of Columbia today). All this is to say that, perhaps, it will take research to find this cemetery, or learn what happened if it's no longer there. Wish you well in your search & that link follows. waa
