Mrs William J (DUB) Turnage Jr
Pls note your name was credited for the pic of my family member William J (DUB) Turnage Jr's grave marker. He was a cousin, down the line, to my Daddy. Please. The Farmerville Cemetery in Farmerville ,La.My Wonderful Grandfather was born in Farmerville...Emmett Alexander Turnage Sept 24,1879. He moved to Miami, then to Spartanburg S C, where he Married, Had 3 great children, and worked 53 yrs in the Spartan Mill, now de-funk. Sadly, he died there Dec,1975. 96 I am gathering All I can in info of All Family.William J jr was a grandson of Emmett's Dad's brother. I think I got that straight. I only today saw your message about not being able to find a stone for her. The Martha Telford stone would likely be the correct one. If you go back, would you kindly photograph that stone? I so appreciate your efforts - truly. Thank you.

Mixon Photos from Sibley Cemetery
Hi Erin! You went out and took some photos for a few requests I sent a while back at Sybley Cemetery. It looks like someone deleted their memorials and added some new ones so the photos are gone. I was wondering if you might still have the photos somewhere in your files? The memorials were for Joel Mixon (I did have a copy of that photo which I uploaded... hope you don't mind! If so, I'll gladly remove it and you can add your own), Rebecca Mixon Norris, and Western Russell Mixon. Here are the new links to their memorials that I found as the old ones are gone:

Rebecca Mixon Norris:

Joel Mixon:

Western Russell Mixon:

Joel's brother Nathaniel and his wife Feriby are also buried there, but I can't remember if I had requested a photo or not for them. I re-requested photos for all of them now though! lol

Nathaniel Mixon:

Feriby Mixon:

Do you mind checking and seeing if you might still have photos of these memorials? If so... thanks so much!!!

I am very distantly related to this line and researching. Do you have a tree on I do most of my work there and have my trees there and I have found lots of interesting info on Sallie and her 1st husband Arthur, I see that they were your great-grandparents. You may know most of it already. From what I have found in my research it would seem the birth year on Sallies headstone is in-correct did you know that? I just thought if I could look at your tree and see what you have and compare to what I have found it would be easier than listing it all here. It's easier for me to message people already on ancestry or on here and I don't know if you want me to write all I have found here for everyone to read or not but I have a bad habit of not checking my private e-mail regularly so I don't often use that. Let me know. I look forward to hearing back from you.

I saw your flower regarding my great-great grandfather's death. Until now, I didn't know the nightrider's name, Calvin Skinner. William was coming to the black woman's defense when Skinner shot him. Sometime after the trial, Skinner was shot dead while sitting on his porch one night. Who fired the shot? Nobody knows. ;)

Thank you so much for taking this picture for me. Sad about the way he died and that he shot and killed shot Jim Aulds. Since they were friends and partners make you wonder how it came to that

RE: Peggy Lanier
Thanks so much! Oh and I noticed that the typed name and dates had her birth year wrong. Do you know who I should contact to get that corrected?

Thanks again,
Mel :)

RE: Gills at Culbertson
I recently "liked" on FB and they are sending daily articles. Coincidentally they just sent an article about why we shouldn't use chalk and give other suggestions. I found the article interesting and wanted to pass it along. I think I will try their method and won't chalk anymore.

RE: Gills at Culbertson
I was very impressed with how well kept it is. I have so many ancestors there. It was really a great experience for me to visit. Very peaceful. I think it would be neat to go to church there some day.

Gills at Culbertson
Hi Erin

Thank you for going to Culbertson Cemetery.

Can you please tell me what the inscriptions and dates are for the two markers. With the sun coming from behind, I can't make out the inscription or dates. I had the same problem when I visited last year. I was there in late afternoon and the same thing happened to my photos.

Also, I think the photo you put on the "Dau/of W.M. And M. Gill is wrong. If you look at the photo that someone had there previously, yours appears to be a different marker.

The purpose of my request was to see if someone could either chalk or spray some water on the marker so the inscriptions and dates show up for my research.

Thanks so much. Sorry if it means you have to go back. I really appreciate it.
