RE: Thomas Pinkney Stovall
I have the name of John Crove... so it is John Calvin? I also have listed as the children of David Joseph Stovall Jr and Susan Stockton Barnett Stovall as: Joseph R., brn abt 1854; William D., brn Dec 8, 1856; John Grove, brn Feb 16, 1858; Andrew Frances, brn Sept 30, 1861; Alfred Lee, brn May 1, 1864; Joseph Robert brn Sept 1, 1869 [oops I have two of them, wonder which date is correct]; Mary Ida, brn Jan 29, 1871; Richard Coke, brn Feb 1, 1876; Ada Mae brn Jan 2, 1879. Would appreciate any corrections.

Sandra: we are friends on FB..I was looking at the Fairview Cem and saw the entry about your ggrandma Sitz

you may know this already, but the Sitz's and many other families inlcuding my Engle ancestors, came to Alabama from Lincoln County NC in the mid 1830's..some other families were Keeners, Fulenwiders. My Engles settled in the Gallant area, were mostly farmers and sharcroppers..some still live in Blount Co..some moved to Texas.

I recognize many nmes in the cemetery.

Best wishes.

After further research, I believe that Abagail's death year as given on stone is correct. Sorry for the delay in responding.

Eliza
Hi Sandra,

Hope you are well? I believe the marker was add after she had died and Robert had moved to Arkansas.
Also I have always thought that one of the boy's paid for it.
I have seen several Find A Grave memorials that when they find the marker is use's the first husband' name.

I sure hope that we can finally put to rest her ever being a Warren. I found Eliza's daughter Mary Clark's death cert and it plainly states Eliza was her mother not a Warren.

Have you seen the death cert? Write when you have time and love hearing from you.

Yes, I gave her all the information so she could. This cemetery charges $20.00 for more than 2 names to look up. The volunteers that do this will go in there with 10-30 names and the people who work there would have to stop what they are doing to look these up for them so the company decided to charge. This is really unethical but volunteers should be limited to maybe 10 each visit and then made to return another day for more. That would cut down the time limit they spend looking up people. It is just so big and that information should be put on the memorial so people should only have to have a map. But I knew Tara would go get this if I gave the information about her. I did let them know how unhappy I was about their policies though because I had driven from Louisiana just to get these. They wouldn't have given me Juanitas' location had I realized that she was separate from the others. Just Sad.

I know what happened. When the people in the office looked this up they didn't look for the people on my list. They tried to tell me it would be $20.00 for more than 2 look-ups. They assumed that she and Lawrence were married and only gave me that one. I did not double check this and never got Juanitas' photo. Yes, it was my fault but I was so infuriated with the policies of this burial place I forgot to check. Now neither one of us has this photo! UGH! I am now mad at myself for this blunder! I am so sorry that I had your hopes up and let you down. Please forgive me.

Just thought I would let you know that the photo is up. Have fun and enjoy your ancestry journey, I have thoroughly enjoyed mine so far and still looking. I have done all the grandparents, great grandparents, and great great grandparents. I did not stop at just my part. I went on and searched for all their children and their families too! So many of my members are from Calhoun, Etowah, Cherokee, & Talladega areas, that is why I am over there so much working on my tree at least once a year and sometimes twice. Griffith, Sewell, Landers, are some of the main ones from Hokes Bluff etc. Bittle, Byrd, Batey, Evans, Traywick, McCollum, are some of the main ones in Calhoun and Talladega. Just so many!

Sandra, I am visiting the area anyway and because she was on my list to get why not just tell you that I would get it so you don't have to go behind me to get it anyway. I will be here all week and I will be all over Talladega, Calhoun, Cherokee, & Etowah Counties looking for more relatives. I know I am nuts but I suppose that is my calling .... to gather all my relatives. Take care and I am glad to do it.

Sandra, I may be heading that way myself. I am also requesting a photo of this lady because she is in my tree as well. Small world! If I do get one, I will post it on findagrave for you and everyone. I had called them and the girl said she would go take these photos for me but that hasn't happened yet so I will just go do it myself. If enough people complained about these charges they might just eliminate them but she told me that people come in there with 30 or more requests and that does take some time to look up. I do understand but maybe they should only requests 10 at a time. This is a very large cemetery but somehow there seems to be a lot of request. I am coming over from Louisiana myself so if you need others while I am there, just let me know & I will get them for you.

Crestwood Cemetery Request
Hello-
I am a volunteer and attempted to locate the grave you listed at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden Alabama. I was told it would cost me $20 per grave that I requested the location of. But, It would be free to family members. If you would be willing to call them and request the location yourself and message me the information, I would be happy to get the photo for you. I already have a map of the cemetery.
Thank You-
Tara-

RE: Lillian Stovall Murphy
It was such a little thing to do for someone outside our county. Lillian's brother-in-law was buried in the plot with no marker. He died many years before she. It would have been good for her to put down a marker for him and also one for her showing where her grave would be. She was survived by nieces/nephews, so no one to do that now. Have a good weekend....Nancy

Today, I checked with the office staff at Forrest Cemetery and Lillian Stovall Murphy was interred Feb. 2, 1983. I went back to the gravesite and there is no kind of marker for her anywhere in the area. I checked back and front of the Murphy headstone to be certain. Please read the photo caption on the photograph I submitted today. Sorry, this didn't work out for a grave marker photo. Maybe better luck next time! Nancy

RE: Lillian Stovall Murphy
She may be buried alongside Claud and no one has ever put a marker for her. Next time I am in Forrest office, I will see if she was interred there. Have a great week!

She has no foot marker alongside her husband, Claud. When I made a photo of his stone 7/15/2012, she had no marker and I checked again today (9/20/2014) and she still has no stone. If she is buried alongside him, there seems to be no evidence that a grave is there. Sorry! Nancy

RE: Nannie Reed Stovall
Thanks Sandra, Mom is sure they are buried at the Old Attalla Cemetery, so we'll go with that and the death certificate had Attalla Cemetery.
I haven't been inside the courthouse yet, I've gone twice and not been able to find a park. I will try again this week. I have a list of marriages that I want to copy. I would like to see if there are any notes on them. Della Stovall is one of them, I would like to find proof that she was Mary L D Stovall and that she married J P Ballard.

Sandra,
My great grandmother was buried at the Old Attalla Cemetery and not at Oak Hill. My great uncle Perry Stovall was also buried at the Old Attalla Cemetery. I have posted memorials in that Cemetery for both of them. I don't believe there was a marker placed for either of them. Nannie's findagrave number is # 119247503 Would you please remove the posting at Oak Hill Cemetery, since my mother and her death certificate both said she wasn't buried there. Thanks

Thank you Sandra,

I intend to use it only on Find-A-Grave and only on that one memorial, so if it should pop-up somewhere else, it wasn't me.

Pocahontas Swaim photo
Hello Sandra,

May I have your permission to add the the photo that you posted for Pocahontas Swaim at Maple Hill Cemetery, to the memorial for her husband, Harry Swaim ? The graves share the same headstone. If not, will you please post it there?

Either way, thank you for the work you have done.

Hi Sandra,
I think we are related. John Henry & Dovie were my Great Grand Parents. Ina & Clarence Pate were my Grandparents. I would really like to know your relation to the Bullards. I'm trying to put a family tree together.
Best Regards,
Jo-Anna Pate Stancil.

RE: Memorials 71861907 and 90530374
I appreciate you pointing out of my duplicates, I have deleted them. Looks like I had seen Lucy's memorial #48004076 because I left a flower on it. More than likely, I chose wrong county. I noticed Stovall Cemetery, Hinds Co. has been photographed 111% with Stovall burials.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
