I haven't looked yet. I was just explaining why the memorial had no dates. I will search for the headstone Saturday afternoon.

The contributor who created the memorial used information from the Orange County Cemetery District database. In this case, the database states the name and location of the deceased but provides no dates. If there is a headstone, that should give us additional information to update the memorial.

RE: Green Lynch
I found the photo on I had been researching my own Lynch folks and came across the photo. Green had similar places of residence and he looked startlingly similar to pictures of my grandfather (who was born in 1913).
I saved the picture and started a tree for Green to see if I could find any connections. Tomorrow I'll check Ancestry to find the original contributor. If you'd like, please reply with your email address and I'll let you know what I have found about Green and if I can reach the original poster of the photo.

2 links that might be of interest:

The VA has a form to be submitted. Do you have his service records?

I can confirm for you that that Stilwell Cemetery indeed used to be called "New Hope" and that would have definitely been the case in 1893.
If you are able to order a marker, I will be happy to facilitate its installation, on site.

Thanks, I got the ledger. The City Clerk emailed me a TIF file with notations on a list I left for her, so haven't actually talked to her yet. The note said to check Section 2, Lot 106 as a "possible.' That grave would be in fact be in the older part of the cemetery, and this would have been called New Hope Cemetery in 1893, so I think we have a chance. I will get down there late next week and let you know.

RE: Thank you for Grave Photo
Thank You , but I can't take credit for the photos. I do research on older cemeteries, and The Saylor Hill Cemetery was one of My interests. These pictures were taken by descendants of the Seiler/Saylor Family who had cleaned up and are trying to restore the cemetery. This was all part of their work. Here's the link to the site.

More phillips Info
I posted a foto of Della on her memorial that was in her obit. I will try to add her and Warren's obits to this message, have not found any for the two sons. Beverly Esford is Della's daughter so you'll have to get her to correct the two memorials for Warren and add the obits.

Della Phillips
Mrs. Della L. Phillips of Hesperia, Calif., passed away Dec. 21, 2008, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren.
She lived in Hesperia for 30 years and California for 53 years. Della was a loving mother, who loved to crochet and do arts and crafts. She also loved her pet chickens, gardening and fishing. Stateline was always in her plans.
Della is survived by sons Thomas Guthrie, Bobby Phillips, Danny Phillips, and James Phillips, all of Hesperia; daughters Beverly Esford of Hesperia, Monica Phillips of Bakersfield, Carolyn Sue Martin of Louisiana, Theresa Lackey of Hesperia, Lewana Aldridge of Apple Valley, Linda Phillips of Wyoming, and Mildred Colargeto of Bakersfield; sister Peggy Washum of Tehachapi; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Della was a good woman at heart and was loved by all who came in contact with her.
There will be a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Victor Valley Mortuary in Victorville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at the mortuary with a graveside to follow at Victor Valley Memorial Park in Victorville.
Victor Valley Mortuary is handling all arrangements.

Victorville Daily Press, 23-Dec-2008.

A native of Oklahoma, he was a resident of Hesperia of 12 years and of California for 42 years.

I added Johnny's gravestone foto. Will let you know what the cemetery comes up with on James. Have not received a response from Beverly Esford on fixing Warren's sites. She lives nearby in Hesperia. Do you know of her and her connection to Warren and Della?

Johnny Leon Phillips
I took fotos of the 3 Phillips headstones today, and checked with the cemetery for any records they have. Warren's burial permit shows that Della was his wife at the time of his death. I added Della's headstone foto to her memorial. One of the other headstone was for Johnny Leon Phillips, 14-Dec-1944 - 25-Nov-1992. The second headstone was for James P. Phillips, 24-Jul-1958 - 28-Mar-2010 (Warren & Della's son??)
The Cemetery will check next week on the last 2 to see if they have any info on them. I will go to the Public Library Monday to see if there are any obits for them and email you copies.
Let me know when you have memorials for the 2 sons.

Will find out about Johnny when I go back to the fotos. Della Hight is listed in Find a Grave as Warren's wife, and James is buried in the same Lot. She had son named Avrel James Hight.

Warren G. Phillips
Always happy to provide fotos.
Noticed that there are 2 memorials for Warren and sent a message to have them combined.
Also noticed after I got home that there are 3 other Phillips grave next to Warren. Della, his wife and James and Johnny. I will go back and foto these after Thanksgiving. If you know who the two man are, you could make memorials for both so I have a place to add the fotos.
