Robert Gee Chandler headstone
Hi, Judith Nan,
My husband and I went to the Willis Cemetery today and looked for Robert Gee Chandler's headstone while we were there. I knew the general location from a Willis Cemetery inventory, but we could not find it. My husband began to kick the dirt at the place where it should be, and there it was, buried in the dirt and dead grass on top of it. We cleaned it up the best we could and took a picture, then added it to his memorial page, Find A Grave Memorial #63883345. Thought you might want to take a look at it.

It was a lost headstone if we had not searched for it. I wonder how many others have been lost the same way.

Happy ending. :)

Judith, I am sure we are cousins of some distance. Iva is my 2nd cousin (1Xremoved) on my Patterson line. I also have Starns in my line. My mother grew up in DeKalb County, AL and her mother was a Patterson. You can find my tree on Ancestry.com at: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/30910228/family?usePUBJs=true.

Thanks for making the changes. And good find on the probate record for Verdell David Henry. I had not seen that before.

I still can't figure out where Wesley Neal Huff's brothers Mike Norris and Ricky Norris fit into this family.

I sent you another suggested edit to make the same changes about Ruby's marriages on her mother's memorial.

Hi again Judith, as usual I am needing some information. I contacted NEAGS and ask them about records of Adam and Lizzie Beth and have not heard back from them. Is there a way of contacting Dorthy Hill or Earnest Hill directly.

Orin Lawrence McDonald (FAG #3831542)
Thank you for responding. I am on Ancestry and someone posted a photo of him. I contacted the gentleman and he was almost positive that Orin did not have any children. He asked one of his cousins to contact me, which she did. She verified that he had no children. I also this lady if Orin's sister got married and she did not know. She said Orin got very upset when she died. The lady that contacted me does not know when his sister Pauline died. I know Orin had a brother and I am trying to find out what happened to him.

Hi,

You left a "Thank You" on Mr. McDonald's memorial. He was my 3rd cousin 1x removed. Did you know him? His line was Ruth Wiggins ->Samuel F Wiggins->Nancy Logan->James H Logan.

I contacted the Los Angeles Public Library looking for an obituary. They found a mention in a Long Beach newspaper but it only had his name and the name of the mortuary. I called the mortuary and they shred all their paperwork after 10 years.

I am trying to find out if he had any children, and if so, how I could get in touch with them.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me.

Thank you.

Ellis and Cagle.
Hi Judith,

Mary Ann Sitz Ellis is my 3rd great grand mother on the Traffanstedt side of the family. Mary Ann's daughter, Nancy is my 2nd great grand mother. Nancy's daughter Anna is my great grand mother. She was married to James Taylor Traffanstedt I am also married to an Ellis.I have been trying to tie these 2 lines together but not having any luck. Since Ellis is one of your lines, I was hoping you might be able to help. The Ellis line that I am married to is George Daniel Ellis, Wiley Columbus Ellis, Thomas Jefferson Ellis, James E. Ellis

My mother in law was a Cagle so I am also related to them. That line is Lloyd Monroe Cagle, Lloyd Henry Cagle , John T Z Cagl, Charles Cagle, Henry Cagle, Johan T D Cagle, Leonhart Cagle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I have anything you can use I would be glad to share.

Betty Warner
John H Gober
Hi Judith, I was contacted by a woman in Belgium who has John H Gober (died 1944) in a database online for American soldiers that died in the Netherlands and Belgium. Here is her specific request: 'For our event the Faces of Margraten we try to find a personal photo of every soldier and I hope to find one of S/Sgt Gober. Do you know if a personal photo of S/Sgt Gober exists? Maybe you know which school he attended or do you know relatives who might know? I very much would appreciate your help.'

Judith, all I can find is the photos of his headstone and cemetery photos that her website has entered on his Find A Grave memorial. Would you be able to help obtain photo(s) for this website? You may contact me directly at warnerlonestar@gmail.com. Thank you, Betty Warner

Re: Arthur Wm Savage's mother
Hi Judith,

Thanks for clearing up where "Dora Koch" came from as Arthur's mother's maiden name. Would seem to be a case of yet another misinformed informant on a death cert and/or burial record. I can easily see how only hearing "Groth" once or twice probably many years before his death could be mis-heard or mis-remembered as "Koch". My own father was "guilty" of this on his mother's death cert, and for 20+ years I looked for an "Orilla" when her first name was actually ZERILDA! The takeaway is that unless one has (or can locate) other confirming documentation, a parent's name on a death cert should never be considered "carved in stone".

Have a great day!
