RE: Memorial# 39256664
Transfer has been completed. It's always nice to find a relative who wants to take care of family member memorials. Thank you.

RE: Even Howell
I have no idea why your email to me would have failed. It is, as listed on findagrave.

Have been busy working on the Brown's Grove Cemetery records. I have located about 25 headstones for which the city has no record of the death/burial. Unfortunately, nothing for Permelia Miller Howell though. Thank goodness for my digital camera so I could prove my finds.

Re Lot 102 where Evan Howell is buried, there are other family names for the same lot number. One is Minnie L. Merica and family and the other is infant burials by the name of Ellis. Do these sound familiar?

This is a small and old cemetery of approximately 1200 graves. Our town population is about 150, so many of the older folks here do remember some of the people or at least stories and tales about them. However, Permelia's death goes back quite far to the late 1880s. There is a Miller family here, but they came to Kansas in 1929 and are no relation to Permelia.

I appreciate you trying to help me, and if convenient you can try to send me that information again. Thank you for writing.

Permelia Miller Howell
I am currently alphabetizing a list of graves in Brown's Grove Cemetery using Burdett, Kansas, city records and a small booklet made by two local women in 2000. There have been approximately 150 additional burials since 2000.

So far, I have not found a city record for Permelia Howell or her twins, even though
findagrave has her name listed. That does not mean she is not buried there, however, as some records do get lost over time.

Would Evan Howell who died in 1925 be Permelia's husband? He is in lot 102. The other two Howells on findagrave, Fern Lucille and Purl Eugene are in lot 109-D.

There are other smaller and long-forgotten cemeteries in this county. I will keep in mind your inquiry if I should ever stumble across information on Permelia.

Daylon - Check out the memorial again. My photo request of his marker has been fulfilled so he is definitely in Union Cemetery. Joe

Thomas Baldwin in Union Cemetery
Daylon - Already got a response on my photo request. He said,
"He is definitely buried in that cemetery, but as to headstone, I'll have to check next time I get up that way. There is a partial Obit on his Baldwin Family Tree.

Thomas & Elizabeth Baldwin
Hi Daylon - I did both cemeteries before I started backing up and saving every cemetery photo I take. I have a very specific system for separating my photos by cemetery if I go to more than one cemetery in a day. I'm as certain as I can be that I have them in the cemetery where the marker exists.
Records, even newspaper records are not always correct. There is a similar situation in Wamego where someone placed a memorial on Findagrave listing an individual in the cemetery north of Wamego by reading a newspaper obit in the library. Later I found their marker in the Wamego City cemetery. Errors can be made so we need an onsite check so I placed a photo request on Thomas Baldwin for verification. Joe
