Thank you for the suggested edits on Newell K. BOWDEN. I didn't realize his connection to the Morris Malachi - are you kin to those folks? Newell's wife (first wife, apparently) Carrie Love HAMER is a cousin of mine - her mother Frances Margaret (PARKER) HAMER was the sister of my gg-grandmother Mary (PARKER) MILLER. Just curious about your connection - thanks again. John in Columbus, GA

I have a paid annual subscription to the site GenealogyBank.com. It includes the Columbus papers, the Macon papers, and some others in Georgia (but not Atlanta, I think), as well as in other states, of course. I have thought about also subscribing to one of the other sites, like Newspapers.com or Fold3, but I find most of what I need on the service I currently have. If you have some specific look-ups you need done, I would be glad to check on them. - John

Hi, Barb - thank you for your message and the information you sent. I have checked on this, and I can assure you that William Oscar BOWDEN (1867-1916) who is buried at Pierce Chapel Cemetery is indeed the son of Morris Malachi & Rachel (SIMMONS) MORRIS, Sr., as postulated in my memorial. In the first place, the account of his funeral and burial includes a list of surviving siblings, which are the other children of that couple (I have added an excerpt to the biographical section). Having confirmed that, I considered the possibility that the Mr. Will BOWDEN, son of Mr. M. M. "Ki" BOWDEN, who was reported drowned might actually be the son of Morris Malachi BODWEN, Jr. (he being another son of M. M. & Rachel) - until I found the following: "MR. BOWDEN ALIVE; HE RETURNS HOME: Has Been in Richmond, Va. Says He is Surprised at the Reports of His Drowning. // Mr. W. O. BOWDEN, who was reported drowned at Tybee last August, turned up at his home in this county last night, safe and sound. He came down on last evening's Southern train from Atlanta, and was talked to by a number of Columbus gentlemen aboard. He stated that he had been ill several weeks in Richmond, Va. He said that he had not heard the report of his death until he reached Atlanta yesterday, en route to Muscogee county. . ." It goes on for some length from there - Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 23 NOV 1900, p. 1. I got a good laugh out of it. I hope this clears up the confusion, and I do very much appreciate your sending me the item, or I probably would not have discovered this. Best wishes - John

I did not find mention of Andrew Shephard, but assume he is one of the children of Harry and Almira since his name is on one of the stones. Do you agree before I link him?

Hi, I did not create a memorial because I wasn't certain of the relationship. If you do just e-mail me and I will happily upload the photo.

Right beside Lena we found Raymond. We may have mistakenly assumed he was her husband. I located no memorial or mention of him on Lena's memorial. Have you any interest in him? We photographed the headstone.

I know -- it always depresses me when I see that happen to a marker. I am glad that someone asked for her, so that I could get at least a picture of her grave in there. There is a slightly older and slightly less wrecked picture of her marker on the cemetery's page for her.

We are not allowed to use pictures from other sources, however. But you can look at it.

So Lincoln Memorial still hasn't told you locations for the Cavin's buried there 'eh?
