I'm curious about this memorial - Find A Grave Memorial# 105101673
I noticed you have a photo of the stone,but was it taken a "New Columbia Cemetery"?
I have an ancestor with a funeral announcement stating he was buried at "New Columbia Cemetery, but I suspect that is a description, not a title, and that it actually refers to the Columbia Hill Cemetery, which at the time, was new. I noticed there is no location given for the "New Columbia cemetery"- if it exists, do you know it's location?

|seekerJay||Laurel Grove Cemetery flood.|
By the way, there was a dramatic flood that occurred in 1904 when an ice dam formed on the Delaware River just below Port Jervis. Like the town, the cemetery was under as many as 15 feet of ice water, resulting in a lot of marker damage. That could explain why so many markers are now missing. http://minisinkvalleygenealogy.blogspot.com/2014/10/galen-bennets-1877-guided-tour-of.html

I happened to see that you have requested photos of the markers of Susan Skinner #38398248 and her brother-in-law, Nathan Yerkes #86301087. Susan is my G3GM and Nathan was married to her sister, Matilda. Do you happen to be related to them, too? Thank you.

BTW: Samuel of Danville Montour Co. PA is the one who was in Co. M 3rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Artillery, not the 1822 Samuel.

You removed the one in Danville, Montour County? I didn't mean for you to do that, only update the info. Then if you don't mind I will add him back with the info I have on him.

|Scott Cook||William Ward|
I saw that you had written Bill Verde about William Ward & thought you may like to know about the genealogy book by Charles Martyn.
The William Ward genealogy :the history of the descendants of William Ward of Sudbury, Mass., 1638-1925. New York : A. Ward, 1925.
Here's the online link to this book.
I am a descendent of William Ward.
Hope this may help you.

in Malvern Cemetery also known as Rock Creek cemetery,, the photo is the plot location the twp. Supervisor gave me, I can not confirm this is actually Hester's marker, as it is so deteriorated, I cant read the name, all the markers in this side of the cemetery are very old and border Rock Creek, they are right up against a fence and weeds turned to trees cover them, most are broken. I have photographed this cemetery 3 times since 2010 and the age of the stones is really showing. sorry it is hard to tell what it says on the stone.

|Paige||Paulina L. Miller d.1890|
Hi, Corie. My partner and I are reviewing some outstanding photo requests for Mt. Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
Regarding Paulina L. Miller, we have located a Paulina in the online internment record that matches name and death date of 1890, aged 89, cause of death "old age", Plot "G" 131: https://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc1/00001074.pdf
Does this age of death match with your record?
Then going to the online plot of G-131, unfortunately, the plot doesn't seem to have any Millers. Do you recognize any potential related family members of "Lyon" in this plot link?
pdf pg. 137
*Paste full links into the http field rather than intoa Google search field.
We can still go out to the plot to have a look, but we thought we'd check with you first to see if you recognized anyone. Sometimes this mismatch happens. This week we had a mismatch success as the secondary maiden name produced a connection.
Please let us know of any further information you have, or if you think with this collected info this isn't your Paulina.

I see that Henry Bass Curtis is listed in two cemeteries. I had a problem like this about two years ago, in that case the remains were removed to another cemetery and they left the headstone up, and added another stone in his new resting location. I not sure where Henry is buried, but I will be going back to So.Canaan cemetery, within the next few weeks to finish the work I started and to check this matter out, I don't see a headstone photo for his wife. I will let you know what I find

|dmr||RE: How are you|
thank you for writing and i do appreciate your concern. as it turns out the surgery(ies) for both my wife and myself have problems and it seems as though both of us are going to have to go back in again. sigh...
sorry you didn't get to rogers. it's a wunnerful cemetery that has a vast amount of history and is a real treat to troll through. you MUST make it a point to come during the summer and spend an hour or so there. you won't regret it.
(smile)seems we all as cemeterians do somewhat the same things--troll around, straighten the flags and war markers, some "dusting" and cleaning and maybe a quiet thank you to patriots.
i really appreciated your message and hope you and your family are well and healthy. thanks again and you have a friend in me.

You're very welcome. I'm not sure how to explain the boundaries between the 3 cemeteries, other than I've been going there for so long, I just know. lol
The first area that you go thru is the Lutheran Cemetery...there is an old stone "gate" with a sign that says you are entering the Glen Dyberry portion, which everything after that is part of G.D. and extends all the way to back entrance/exit. The Jewish cemetery is just a small extension off the backside of Glen Dyberry. I tried to find a boundary map online without any success.

I have seen both as well, and I can't recall off the top of my head why I settled on this one right now. Here grave marker seems to show 79 years as her age at death, neither one of them gives you 79 years based off of death date. I will do some checking and see if I can find why I went with this date.
