Your request is the first one I have rec'd since volunteering. I have looked on the F.A.Grave site to find out how to find the location of the actual gravesite. This may be a simple answer, such as go into the cemetery records, ask the family member or just search the hundreds of gravesites. (hopefully not). I don't mind doing this, but I am extremely busy, and do not have time to go looking through the cemetery. I asked my question in the FAQ, but this answer didn't come up. Thank you for your help Sheila.

Your welcome, glad to do it. I while take a better photo next time i am at St, Mary's and post a better one. I wasn't aware how bad that photo was. Some stones just don't take good photos, but i will try to replace it. Thanks Leo Offerman

You are very welcome. This was my first attempt and I did not get to all requests in the Ogallala Cemetery, being unfamiliar with the cemetery, but hope to do more in the future.

Deanne Knapp
Davisons in Arkport
Hi Sheila;
I met the record-keeper for the Arkport Cemetery today at the cemetery. I took pictures of Sara, Grover & George Davison. He believes that the rest of the Davison/Davidsons were buried in unmarked graves. He made copies of the cards that are on file in his office regarding Lydia, Andrew, Walter & the infant. I have scanned them into my computer & would be glad to email them to you if you would like to give me your email address.
In 2006 there was a person by the last name of Blaney that was also looking for info on these people.
Hope this helps.

Davison & Davidson
Hi Sheila;
I went to the village hall in Arkport today. The cemetery clerk will not not be in her office until Monday. She will look up the names & try to locate for me.

Davison & Davidson
Hi Sheila;
I visited the only cemetery located in Arkport, NY today. I was unable to locate any of the Davison/Davidson that you requested photos of. However, I did find some others with that name, that were not listed for that cemetery. I have added them, along with photos of them.
I plan on returning to the cemetery on a warmer day, but before I go I will stop at the Village Hall, where they have a map of the cemetery & locate the graves of the ones you have requested.
Thanks for your patience.

Pat D Saunders
Barkhurst/Barkus Surname
I noticed a Barkhurst name associated with your name. Does that Barkhurst name go back to Eastern Shore Maryland before the Revolution?

Isabella Fisher married first William Finicum and then James Barkhust. I descend from William and Isabella.

A marriage from the GRS CD004, November 1994 is a marriage record from "Maryland Marr., Kent, MD". It is for FINICUM, William and FISHER, Isabella, 06 Mar 1753.

The following is information that I found on Family Tree Maker, CD206, Genealogical Records: Maryland Probate Records, Prerogative Court Abstracts, 1763-1770, Abstracts 1763-1770 (Libers 4 and 5). The entry on page 82 appears to be an abstract of the final record generated by the probate of the estate of William Finnicum.

"William Finnicum 5.206 D QA [Pounds]90.17.3 Jun 14 1769

Sureties: Richard Heathers, Edward Burroughs.
Distribution to: Isabella (widow, accountant, 1/3). Residue to 4 children (equally):
Ann, Margaret, Stephen, William.
Administratrix: Isabella Barkhust, wife of James Barkhust."

I read this to indicate that the William Finnicum who was born in 1763 was probably the youngest son of the William Finnicum who died before 1768.

An entry on page 108 of the same document on the same CD-ROM lists "William Finnicum" among the names listed under bonds from Queen Anne's County, August 9, 1767, so I would guess that William died before that date in Queen Anne's County, Maryland.

Family Tree Maker, CD206, Genealogical Records: Maryland Probate Records, Prerogative Court Abstracts, 1766-1769, Abstracts 1766-1769 (Volumes 91-100) on page 40 has another entry of interest.

"William Finnicum 94.259 QA [Pounds]115.14.11 Jun 4 1767 Sep 3 1767
Appraisers: John Redue, William Clark.
Creditors: John Vansant, Thomas & George Gilpin.
Next of kin: Jean Colyan, Mary Watkins.
Administratrix: Isabella Finnicum."

This dates William's death to on or before 4 Jun 1767. It also gives the names of kin who appear to be William's sisters, "Jean Colyan and Mary Watkins". "Isabella Barkhust, wife of James Barkhust" seems to be the mother of the William Finnicum born in 1763. The William Finnicum who died before 1768 may be Peter Finecan's son.

I wonder whether there is any link between our families.

Hello, Sheila.

I don't live near Paton, but it was my beloved hometown. I went there recently to sing happy birthday to my daddy. I took some photos. Among them was this one fot two of my favorite people growing up. ALL of the Carlsons are absolutely some of our favorite "Paton people" still. I am honored to post this for Ernest with love.
