Marta Walker Betts
Birth and death dates for Edson White
Hi,

I am Edson White's 3rd great-granddaughter (Walker, Novotny, Rathbone, White). I am trying to complete my DAR application which is requiring a lot of specific vital information. Listed on the Find A Grave for him there is birth and death information. Can you please tell me where this came from? I can't find much on Edson or Polly.

Thank you so much.

Regards,
Marta Walker Betts

Brown
Maley Marsh - Part 2
I should also note that Edmund appears to have been separated from his family before he died. He is recorded as having died in 1877 but his wife Almira is already listed as a widow on the 1871 Census of Canada and Edmund is not listed with the family in the 1861 Census of Canada. Which might also relate to why Manley went to live with Nathan.

Brown
Manley Marsh
You are listed as the creator of the Find-A-Grave memorial for Manley Marsh: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=105393082

That memorial lists his father as Nathan R Marsh. However, I believe this was Manley's uncle rather than his father.

If you look at the 1851 Census of Canada you will see Manley listed with his parents Edmund and Almira (as well as several siblings). If you look at the 1855 New York State census you will see the same family listed together in the United States. However, Manley's father Edmund died at an early. I believe this is why Manley begins to show up as living in Nathan's household in subsequent census records. And also why Almira and the other children moved back to Canada. I believe Nathan and Edmund were bothers. So Nathan was Manley's uncle and served as a father figure. But Edmund was his father.

If you have access to the Ancestry.com database, the 1851 Census of Canada record I referenced above can be seen here: http://interactive.ancestry.com/1061/e095-e002360136/2072337

and the 1855 New York State Census record can be seen here: http://interactive.ancestry.com/7181/005207143_00281/1654553559

Hi Sarah

I have posted high school photo for the above & his wife Margaret Fulkerson Carlon 91545739.

They are 1914 New Castle High School (New Castle Pennsylvania).

I am not related, but doing some research in that yearbook & I thought I would try to match some pics with existing memorials. It is good to see how people looked when they were young.

BTW, one of their fellow classmates became famous. Louise Treadwell became an actress & later married actor Spencer Tracy.

referring to Ida Garrett being a daughter. I did not add that it was done through the corrections. I know nothing about her. I just put the picture on. I have had a lot of corrections done on that cemetery lately. All I can do is approve them. I took the parents off and put a note in saying they were incorrect. Sorry Deb

lowrie, john family tree
Hi Sarah,
Just some really good news,
I finally found documentary evidence of
John L Lowrie, Jr being part of John and Catherine Lowrie's family and that he had a son,
Robert who married Mary Jane Anderson, who was
father of Robert Walter Lowrie, father of
Howard Russell Lowrie, father of
Robert E. Lowrie, father of ME !!
Have found many great articles about this family - so thankful to be part of a family which has been contributory to history in many ways.
Yeah!.
Still planning to come to PA to see historical Lowrie sites.
Not sure if you live near Pittsburgh....
if so, would love to meet you, we have a
great hobby in common.

Lowries - Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, NJ
Hi Sarah,

I just added photos for the Lowrie memorials you created for those buried at Rosedale. I also created two additional memorials for two other family members listed on the stone. I assume they are also the children of John and Elizabeth Lowrie. I'm not sure your relationship, but if they are your relatives and you'd like me to tranfer them, let me know.

Good point about their policy. I think theirs is a little different from Find-A-Grave, because once the photos uploaded have been transcribed, at some point they watermark them with their logo, which gives them ownership of them, as opposed to Find A Grave, where the uploader has ownership. Now, that is an assumption on my part. I have never bothered to look at their policy.

Oh I see. I also do the same work for Billion Graves, and I simultaneously upload them. No problem, but be aware that taking the photo from another website could also lead to problems. I am not trying to lecture, just cautioning, lol. Have a good day!

Sorry about the duplication. I will be happy to delete my memorial. I will also be happy to upload my photo onto your memorial. I would ask, however, that you do not take my photo and upload it yourself. If you would, delete it and I will upload it. It should be up by the time you see this. Thanks!

RE: lowrie, reuben post children
Hi Sarah -
I just found that Reuben Post Lowrie and Amelia Lowrie have 3 children listed on the NY state census for 1865 and the US Census for 1879 - There are the two I mentioned in the last message - James Walter and Mary Josephine but there is a younger brother named Reuben b. 1860. All listed in 1965 NY census as b. in China.
The 4th generation grand father I'm looking for
should have been a grandson of Walter Hoge Lowrie (b.1784 in Scotland) and Amelia McPherrin Lowrie (b. 1792 in PA). Their sons were Jonathan Roberts, Henry Martyn, Matthew S., Walter Macon, and Reuben Post. I can't find where any of their sons were named Robert and married to Annette Matthews ("Nettie"). I'm still looking at Reuben Post's sons but haven't found a Robert yet - am now checking his grandsons.
I found where the "Report on death of an American citizen" document processed in Tientsin, China on Feb 21, 1930 shows James Walter Lowrie died of acute bronchitis and is buried in martyrs Memorial Cemetery in Paotingfu, Hopei Province, China.
If I find more, I'll send info to you.
Sincerely, Jackie

lowrie, reuben post children
Hi Sara Campell - I noticed you have added a Find A Grave post for Reuben Post Lowrie - I just found in the Reed family tree in ancestry.com that he had 2 children James Walter b. 1856 and Mary Josephine b. 1858.
Also, I discovered this weekend that there is a blowrie that has contributed a tree to rootsweb and so plan to contact them too - hoping they will have the elusive name of the 4th generation that I'm looking for - between Walter Hoge Lowrie and Robert Lowrie.
Hope you are having good success in your research,
Jackie Lowrie

Campbells in scotland
Hi Sara -
I've just finished reading Nigel Trabant's trilogy about King Robert the Bruce. It is an
historical novel but when I look at actual histories it seems to be in harmony with them.
According to this work, Neil Campbell figured very prominently in the 1st War of Independence with Robert Bruce and was a very loyal and important member of his court.
It has been great to go back to Scottish history to find how our ancestors have been involved in it. Mine as camerons and yours as campbells.
Sincerely, Jackie Lowrie
