Hi Diane,

Thank you for your email.

I've just looked in my database and the only parent I have for William R. Sage 1821-1864, is Russell Sage (I have no mother listed in the database).

I believe you are correct and that "Son of James and Henrietta ATHENS Sage" should be removed and your information inserted.

The only Notes I have for him are:

1850 Census - Williiam R. Sage, age 28, b. abt 1822, Massachusetts, Home Rockville, MD, William R Sage 28, Harriet M 28, Charles W 1, Mary E 1 month, Russell Sage 67

I am sorry for the error and appreciate your corrections. I will add them to the Rockville Cemetery database.

Do you have information on all the other Sage individuals buried in Rockville Cemetery? Any photos? How about the Dove, Darcey and Gandy families?

Thank you!

Anne Allnutt

Find A Grave Memorial# 74149288
Do you have a source for the parentage of William R. Sage 1821 - 1864 in the Rockville Cemetery?

I think this might be incorrect. James and Henrietta (Atkins) Sage had son William Hollister in 1919. They are from Ohio.

I have found a more likely source - the marriage of William R. Sage and Harriet M. Sheldon in Massachusetts Mar 27 1845.

The Henrietta in the Rockville Cemetery was born in Mass. and the three children attributed to her in the 1870 census are all born after the 1845 marriage date.

That would make William R. the son of Russell Sage and Betsey, also from Massachusetts. I have no birth date for William R. but siblings were born Between 1806 and 1821.

John Dewees #71221459
What is the basis for saying that John Dewees was born in New Jersey??

What is the source that reports Johnís parents as Garrett and Agnes Streeper Dewees?

Jato -

You loaded a photo of the family stone to the above memorial. Can you move it to the following Memorial# 36406453. Turns out I have a duplicate and I need to delete the one the photo is on. Thank you in advance for your help. Valerie

RE: John Buchanan Brewer photos
The Board thought of that, and his name is already etched on the big grave marker for his wife, but visitor came to Rockville Cemetery thinking he was there because of the foot marker and asked about the family plot. Burying the marker and updating the wife's memorial should alleviate this in the future. Thanks!

John Buchanan Brewer photos
Can you please delete the two photos you placed on John's memorial? He was actually buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD by his second wife. I'm working with Rockville Cemetery to help clear up this confusion. His foot marker will be buried so visitors won't be confused. THANK YOU~~~~

Weldon Hotel
Doing research on Schwenksville and noticed the Krause family at one time owned the Weldon House Hotel in Schwenksville or Delphi area. Does anyone have any old pictures of it from that era?

RE: Rachel (Hufte?) Dewees
Thank you for your reply and citation. The source is nearly 20 years old, so it pre-dates the database with the state of Pennsylvania book of church records showing that Hufte married William Dewees. Let me know if you'd like a more precise citation for this resource so you can find it yourself. It is possible that the newsletter author 19 years ago made a mistake.

I am in the process of connecting with that Dewees family group myself and will follow up with them. This website:
shows Rachel Hufte marrying the cousin William, and if you delete the address extension so that you end at "Dawson," you'll see that Jack Dawson also has sourced the Dewees family association (or at least someone he calls the official family historian. This might be on other than his home page, but I just saw it today on one of his pages.)

What's also interesting is that if you do a regular google search for Rachel Hufte, you find that about half the pages show her married to the cousin William, not Henry.

I will follow up with the family association, see if they can determine a source for the 1993 newsletter's information, and get back to you when I hear back from them either way. Thanks again.
