yvonne,

Now that you tell me, I see that I can view my requests via the "Info" mouseover.

My requests are identified by "Your Request" but ideally, the creator could edit the request rather than delete and re-create if something changed or was forgotten.

Thanks you for the info ..

RE: Viola (Gran) Williams ID #91333916
yvonne,

Your existing photo is very good in that it allows viewing the headstone and the surrounding area. This helps to find if one goes to the cemetery.

The reason for my request was for a 2nd photo that is a closeup and shows the front of the headstone only to make the inscription legible without zooming.

I frequently make PDF and there is room for 3 photos on the page. An additional photo of the front of the headstone makes the inscription readable on the PDF and paper if one chooses to print for someone that doesn't use computers. Also visible on the web page.

I would normally explain this in the request but your concern makes me wonder if photo volunteers receive the text in the photo request? As the requestor, I can view the fact that I made the request but cannot read my original message and I do not receive an email when I make a photo request. Would appreciate your comments on what you can view of my request?

Thank you,
Del Gran

RE: Viola Williams ID #????? of 863
If I request a photo where one already exists, it is generally because:
1) Improve quality or closeup to make inscription more legible

2) Group photo to show the area of the headstone and adjacent headstones to include potential or known family members.

There are 863 Viola Williams at Find A Grave. If you provide ID#, I can add what my reason was for this particular request ... maybe I made a mistake.

Thank you for taking and uploading the picture for his memorial. Your time and effort is appreciated. Even though the U.S. gravestone left off the "e" on his surname, it's not as bad as some I have seen.

Janet Enright
Henry R Grabhorn
I am descended from:
Johann Heinrich GRABHORN (1793 - 1859)
3rd great-grandfather
Barnhardt GRABHORN (1826 - 1863)
son of Johann Heinrich GRABHORN
Louise "Luise" Sophia GRABHORN (1853 - 1928)
daughter of Barnhardt GRABHORN
Mary Ann NUNGESSER (1888 - 1964)
daughter of Louise "Luise" Sophia GRABHORN
Louise Mildred BLACKETT (1910 - 1970)
daughter of Mary Ann NUNGESSER
Janet Louise MEISEL (1943 - )
daughter of Louise Mildred BLACKETT

I have done a great deal of research on my Grabhorn relatives, and have several mysteries within the family to solve ... one being the disappearance of my great-great grandfather, Barnhardt GRABHORN (1826 - 1863), during the Civil War. He was caught up by Union soldiers in Missouri, and taken to St. Louis to serve as a saddler for the Union army, and deserted a very short time later. That is the last record of him. His wife and children (Louise "Luise" Sophia GRABHORN (1853 - 1928, my great grandmother being one of them) next show up in Kansas with other Grabhorn/Kuhne relatives. The other mystery was more-or-less solved by us recently and had to do with another child of Barnhardt, my great uncle Henry Grabhorn, who served in the Montana State Prison. My husband and I took a trip to Montana and found lots of info of his crime and punishment. Would love to discuss family info with you.

Use the email I have listed, and I would like to share family info with you. Which sister is your ancestor? Christine, Helena or Sophia?

I have an extensive tree on Ancesty.com and try to put info up on a regular basis. Do you have a copy of Johann Heinrich Grabhorn's will? I just posted it.

Thanks so much for the info. He is, indeed, the man I am seeking. I tried to access the obit in the La Crosse library holdings, but since I am not a Wisconsin resident, am denied access. Could not find their holdings on my Newspapers.com site either. Grrrrr

There is a reference on his page that "it says in his obituary ..." Where is this obituary?

I am trying to figure out if he is the Henry Grabhorn I am seeking. Do you know of any reference to his parents?

Birth date: 13 Dec 1819
Birth Place: Germany
Death Date: 10 Feb 1901

You entered info on 8 May 2015

If you blow up the picture on the bottom of the stone it has his memorial data on it as well so I believe he is in that plot too.

I have talked to the El Camino Office and did as much research as I can. They had given me the wrong person and that is why I didn't find the correct Smith. He is not in their database. Not buried at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego, CA. The person who created the Memorial for him and Edna, (Mookie), is not available to ask why she said he was at El Camino Memorial Park, Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, CA. I do have his SSDI, obit. and Edna's obit. which are already typed on their Memorial Page. I could send them, if I had your email address. Do you know if Phyllis middle initial is A. or C.? Sorry I didn't find him. C.J.

The Office gave me his location, but I found no marker and told you about two other Smith buried a few feet from his grave space. I will talk to the Office again and go get photos, with my flowers on his grave, if I know for sure he doesn't have a marker. C.J.

RE: Photo Request
Yvonne,
Forest Park has about 4 cemeteries in the greater Houston area. This one is not in the one that I am working in. In fact it is way across town from me. To request photos in any of these cemeteries, it would be wise to call their office and get a section and lot number. They are all very large cemeteries.
Good luck with your request.
Lee

Hi Yvonne - I got your EDIT to include her first married name in the surname field. I have linked her to her first husband because he is clearly mention in the obituary, but at this point I'm not sure about adding the second name. I've just looked up in the FAQs about name entry and find:
Last Name
Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

If you ever get to the cemetery and find a marker for her I'd be glad to change her name if the marker shows both names. I see Mr. Brauer has a marker, but no plot information listed, so it's hard to request a photo.

Would you consider canceling the request at this time?
Judy

The Find a Grave protocol has always been that oldest listing stays and is corrected which I've done. Feel free to add the picture of the grave.

Bratages are a direct link to my family and I have records going back a couple hundred years.

I appreciate your input.

Hi Yvonne,
Yes, that would be great to add the headstone's name to the rest of this family. I am not related to this family at all. It just needs extra "Roenisch" names to them!

In the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Hokah, MN you have a pic on Daniel Conniff (107226473) that is incorrect. It is for a Loyd Conniff.
