RE: Salem Cemetary
Hi Gail - Sadly Salem Cemetery is in a highly neglected state. It is located in the woods at Route 361 and Fontaine Road in Manokin, MD. Apparently, this was the site of the Salem M. P. Church. The ruins of the church steps are still there with the church name inscribed on it. I have been unable to find out anything additional as to the demise of the church. If you go the the cemetery's Find A Grave page and click on the Map tab you can see it's location. Would love to know more about the church and this cemetery if you have any information. The names of those interred here without photos were taken from Ruth Dryden's book: Cemetery Records of Somerset County, Maryland. Susie

Fairmount Cemetery Icon
Hi Gail,
You can fix the problem with the icon for family pictures yourself.
When adding a photo, just use the drop down menu where it ask you, "type of photo". Your choices are, Grave, Person, Family or Other. Always choose the appropriate one, and your photos will show the correct icon.
You can correct the ones you already have in Fairmount Cemetery by deleting them and then re-adding them again under the appropriate choice.
I hope this helps answer your question. :)

RE: Photos of Fords, Walstons and Landons
Hey Gail. Sure thing. A lot of the adds that are on Fairmount got there by a distant cousin Lonnie Hoover. He is a "worker" as he says. I sent him a copy of the disc I made that sunny October afternoon since he has much more time to do that sort of uploading and updating work. As I recall, it's pretty easy to upload the files. Check out the contributor tools section for the directions. If you "take over" a site, I think all you do is ask permission of the original or current poster. I did that with the gals that posted my Dad's grave. They did not know my dad but are just good folks that perform a nice and lasting service for Family and friends.
BTW, my sister may have made a big breakthrough today with the Ford / Walston line from Fairmount just today. If this gal's pedigree checks out, we are not only related but made the connection back to England!

Hi, I didn't send a request for a photo of Lula's gravestone. It must have been someone else. I put her memorial on Find A Grave but did not know her and am not related. Thanks.

Photos of Fords, Walstons and Landons
Hello, I was at the Fairmount site a couple of weeks ago and photographed all of the graves of Fords, Walstons and Landons as they are part of my family background. I would like to add my photos to your records if that is OK with you.

Edgar A. Parks
I am doing research on behalf of a patron on Edgar A. Parks, interred here at Fairmount Cemetery.

Does anyone know anything about Mr. Parks supposed re-interrment, from possibly North Africa, where he fell, to Fairmount, where he was from?

Thank you!

MD Librarian
