Sylvester Smith
My daughter and I were able to get a picture of Slyvester Smith's grave site. He was buried with Diana Ward Smith, Mary E Smith and Willard H Smith. I believe the last two might have been his children.

Pauline Bates Brown
Hi Paula,
I wrote the chapter about your grandmother Pauline Bates Brown in the book "Skirting Traditions." I hope you have seen the book. Now I am starting work on another project about her, and I am interested in what you can add about her to my research. I can be contacted at

Cyrus Church
Hi Barb,
I just read your message that you might be able to search for people's ancestors in the Walworth, Wisconsin area.
Cyrus Church was my great-great grandfather. I would love to connect with any of his other descendants. According to the Arcadia Publishing book on Walworth, Cyrus does have descendants in the area.
Many thanks if you can help.
Anne in Walnut, CA

Boyd Cemetery
I live in Wise County Texas. If you need anything else, just let me know. Most of the cemetery pictures and information can be found at and the county has a lot of other information available on that site besides the cemeteries... I also go to Tarrant County quite a bit. Just let me know if I can help!!

your Ggrandfather
RE: 92479455

Was this man the same Thomas A. Bates, of Co "K", 13th Mississippi Infantry, during the Civil War.

Per the Confederate Veteran Magazine,1925, this man's grandson, William Pearce, reported it so.

Do you agree?

RE: William Traver in Cobblestone #136218719
Well, it's time to find the children!! I'm sure the Traver family will enjoy seeing the memorials. That's good humor you've made, not rudeness. Heehee. Now, to be really rude, I've put a note in the Bio that the inscription doesn't match the dates of his birth and death in the date Bio. :)

RE: William Traver in Cobblestone #136218719
Thank you for your offer; you stay warm and safe, too! I made the updates you suggested, but the problem with William's creative :) first name is that it doesn't turn up in results if you're searching for William Traver. I know some people are adamant about keeping the name field to match the stone, I suppose for that reason. Is it my imagination, or are there 2 spouses (both with the same name) linked to William? I clicked on each one, but the memorial number is the same?

... and, yes, where you're at is better than the burbs of Chicago. Love rural Wisconsin. I always roll down the window, especially in summer, when we drive by the cows. lol

RE: William Traver in Cobblestone #136218719
Hi Barb, Teamwork is great, thank you very much for your resources, help and suggested updates. I am not an Ancestry member, so I was unable to see the older photos. It's odd though, as I am a member of a family tree on Ancestry that was helpful and interesting for my interest in Billups Cemetery in Missouri, but I usually access it through a link when there are updates.

I never did see the Bailey invite, but that's okay. I will make reference to you as contributor when I make any updates so that if anyone has any questions, they can contact you.

My husband and I have been visiting Wisconsin and Illinois cemeteries in this darn cold -- but it's really hard to accomplish much in the freezing weather, which is going to get worse, at least here in Illinois tonight!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband and hope his situation gets better. I hope your next visits to Cobblestone are fruitful -- it's a very peaceful place to be. :)

William Traver in Cobblestone #136218719
Hi there, I received your Edits for William, but I want to ask you to take a close look at the tombstone and let me know what you think. I have his aged info. in his memorial as 61 years, but the "1"'s look like they could be "4"'s; well part of the "4" -- if it IS a "4" -- is completely gone, but the spacing and slant is different than the other "1"s in the death date inscription. Do you have a main source that states 1800 as the birth year? Loretta

RE: Amanda Carlson
I am happy to have the records in the hands of a loving family member.

However, it would have been much easier (for me) had you used the "edit" feature on her record and then sent me the message because it would have done two things - sent me a direct link to her record and also provided me with your Findagrave # necessary for the transfer. At least you told me where she was buried so that narrowed down my search - otherwise a search for Amanda Carlson would have brought up almost 200 to look through!

No harm done, she was found and I looked up your info to get your ID # for the transfer. Just an FYI for future transfers to make it easier for the record holder to make the transfers.

Happy hunting!

RE: John Bailey
That's very thoughtful of you. I don't see it and I checked Spam. It can take 2 days sometimes to get one day's email, it seems, so it still may come or you can try to resend. It will probably magically appear as does some of my other email.

RE: John Bailey
I have a few Baileys in Laclede Cemetery, MO, but I'm not related to any Bailey's that I know of. Thank you very much for the offer. I was going to hook John up to Joseph and add Nancy's maiden name; is there more than one Joseph Bailey family in that area? I did a quick familysearch hunt and looked like there may be -- but it was a quick peek.

Hi there, I received your SAC for the birthdate, place and death place for John in Cobblestone. Can you please give me your source so that I can add it in the Bio section? Thank you very much.

RE: Levi Garrison
Well, hello ... back! Yes, we are apparently fourth cousins, we share 3rd great grandparents. Which son of Simpson McEnville Hagood and Elizabeth Garrison Hagood was your great grandmother Mary Almeda Hagood born from? I am descended from the Hagood's daughter Nancy Emily Hagood, who married William West (they are all buried in the same graveyard in Alpharetta).

It is very interesting to hear about you. I and my parents have always lived in North Alabama, where my grandfather, father, and myself followed the family tradition of being Methodist ministers. I had no idea until doing all this research that I was descended from the Garrison circuit riders, as you are also.
