I have Walter Hada's obit. Do you want it? It mentions Viola Kent as his wife at the time of his death, mentions Lawrence and Edward as stepsons, and other kids.

RE: Frederick August Heise
Sounds good ... hope you hear from Paul soon. Let me know if there's anything else I can do as I just hate not having been able to find Fred! Thanks.

Frederick August Heise
Hello again! It's been a while ... how've you been? Finding Fred has been quite the challenge. I was helping someone from the Heise branch of your tree with research and, in the process of trying to pindown just where Fred is buried, it's ended in an unsolved mystery. Here's what I learned. Fred's death record only notes burial was in the town of Scott and the newspaper write-up was of no help either. So I went out to Snow Hill and looked at every single headstone with an emphasis on the oldest ones. There are some missing headstones so he could, indeed, be there. St. Paul's Church cemetery is less than half a mile down the road so I also went there and checked every single headstone. Again, there may be some missing ones in that old section, and the ones that are left are quite difficult to read. There was one that was kind of interesting in that the surname may have begun with an "H" (but it could also have been a "W"). I then made some calls trying to find the sexton of that cemetery hoping he/she would look back in their records ... they were not helpful (and it was the strangest phone call I've ever had). I then called someone who I know sits on the Lincoln County Cemetery Board and it was his opinion that Snow Hill probably has the best kept records of all the local cemeteries and if Fred is not noted to be there, he probably isn't. However, that doesn't mean he's not there. If I remember correctly, two or three of Fred's adult children chose burial at Snow Hill. Do you think it was presumed he was buried there based on their location? I think we need to find the records kept by St. Paul's Church to determine if we can rule out burial there but the church closed its doors years ago (the church is still standing but has clearly been abandoned). I don't know where they could be or who to contact to find out but the person I was doing the research for didn't want me to spend any more time on it. I can put him back in Snow Hill for the time being if you prefer. What do you think? Sheryl

Gosh, This is one of those posts that the person wont respond. These go in my backlog and then in a year or two someone will find it and kindly let me know and I will try again to fix it to no avail. Isn't it sad when folks do such a good job posting graves but just won't work with other volunteers. Thanks so much for your help. I'll keep at it until I forget. LOL and I'm sure there will be other fish to fry in the meantime. Take care.

You were so right. I do remember posting this back in 2010 and trying to get the poster from 2009 to add the information for my family. I have fixed the birthdate that was a computer problem typo and put it on my list to try and get the information posted to the original again. The new pictures taken by another poster are great and so I don't care who maintains the grave as long as the documentation and the information is current. I am a long time researcher and this is my family so I care about it being correct. Thank you so much for finding the issue and I will take steps to remedy it again. I don't like duplicates for sure, but sometimes difficult posters just don't use good research skills in posting and don't work well with family members and fellow volunteers. I love having folks like you contact me cause you make find a grave a better site. You are appreciated.

RE: Re: Pickanew
Hi, No problem. But I think you can delete a request if you find you "goofed". :). When you go to your profile and the "edit" link, click on the drop box and there should be one that says "Edits I have sent for approval" or something like that. Click on it and then I think there is a X on the right that will allow you to delete it. Using my memory on this so hope I'm not sending you on a goose chase. Take care.

Hi, I found an "edit" but there was nothing showing to change. Was there supposed to be something suggested to add or amend? Thanks.

Carol Chakurda
Wyant Family
Hi! I was researching a Cummings family that moved quite a bit trying to see if they connected to my known Cummings family. While researching them I came across a book that gave a bit of history of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada. This is where I got the details for your Wyant family. The person that actually walked that cemetery and documented The Wyants was Alice Cummings Helenius. I have a book that she wrote called "It's Good To Remember". Your Wyants are mentioned in that book. Have a great day! Carol

Knapp Green Bay
I seethat you posted a picture of Winifred Knapp. Are you related to her? I'm looking for information about Knapp s in Green Bay. I have Knapp ancestors in Michigan and Iowa. I also have pictures in relatives in Green Bay from the 1800s with no names but stating they are in Green Bay. Any information would be helpful.

Thank you

The tombstones are probably correct - I made the entries based on a cemetery listing that also relied on death certificates and census data which can sometimes be off - Larry
