Hi Dan -

Just stopping by to say hi after looking at the graves and memorials you've posted on Find A Grave. I'm related to the Cowgill's through James William Cowgill & Electa Raigner.

Thanks,

Yes, I am a descendant of Ellen Cowgill from England through her son Ralph, Issac, George. My grandmother was the last direct surname Cogill (our spelling) directly to me. I found an Orphaned Cowgill on Wikitree, and was hoping to find the family.

RE: Bethel Cemetery
Dear Dan
Thanks for your response. I visited lovely Chesapeake City, November last and found most of what I was looking for and a few surprises. Bethel Cemetery was easy to search and located many of my ancestors. Along with your postings I knew what I was looking for. Having stayed at Dr Smithers B&B even found the Barwick house on Bohemia Ave. Your input here on F.A.G. was a big help Thank You for your contribution to my research. Yours truly Robert Barwick

Hi Dan.
I also descend through Philip's son, Benjamin Markwood Haines, then through his daughter Etta Victoria Haines who married Robert Beauregard Nelson. You are welcome to see what I have in my tree. It is located on Ancestry.com titled Tammy Abe's Roots and Branches. If there is another way to share, please let me know. Any information you have would be welcome, also if you find mistakes I would like to know.

Thank you,

Tammy Abe Harbaugh

Camp Hill cemetery
Hello,

Do you know of any historical society that may have newspapers that had covered the Paw Paw area in the late 1800's? If so, any idea where I can obtain copies? I am curious as to the cause of death for Harry Catlett 80339815 buried in Camp Hill cemetery.

Thank you,

Brendan

Bethel Cemetery
Dear Dan
I have enjoyed connecting with my ancestors through Your Photographs. Your work at Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City is greatly appreciated. I'm planning trip this fall and am wondering how familiar you are with the 'lay out' of this Cemetery. Might there be a map with reference coordinates to facilitate location of final resting places. My primary interests are Barwick, Clark, Colmary, & Hammond Families Thank You again Robert Barwick (Wyck)

And if they are not my soldiers and I find info/I send to whomever has them--they don't always add the cw info and I can't make them. If I leave the info on a "flower" they remove. I have found that if I have a pic to post, I can add it under the photo in the caption area.(just discovered I can do that)

I have gone into those cems-photo'd EVERY grave that is there with a stone-whole or broken.....if they have a name on the stone-am adding the name/info on stone.

IF there is broken stone or grave with unreadable stone or only a cast of a grave with no stone(indentation or discoloring of grass) I then go thru old records to FIND out who is there and find as much info as I can about that person to add to the cemetery listing.

If the names fall within Rev/CW/SpAM wars, I then go thru old military records to find out if they have served if possible...Russ Pickett also has alot of the old soldiers....sometimes I give to him, sometimes I get his help with info...FOR exam: In Goshen cem in Milton-I found a Rev/War soldier who piloted the FIRST boat FOR GEN.Washington to cross the Delaware.......or in my digging of an old soldier I discovered his son and a local boy was one of the FIRST Tuskegee Airman and I did his bio and gave to Russ so that he would get more recognition with people doing later wars...

And I find graves in clumps of woods etc that I document BEFORE someone illegally moves their stones so that they can sell property and their resting places are no longer visible.......

I have access to historical info/records that I use to document. There have been ALOT of soldiers in Union and ME that do not have for one reason or another a stone--ie in Union there are several that ONLY have a number inscribed on a concrete chunk--these were soldiers who could not afford a stone so "in respect" they were done in replace of a real tombstone.

I am also doing 2 really really old cems; Union cem in Milford, and Methodist in Milford that have civil war soldiers in it....I had them closed as they were in very very bad disrepair and have had people come in with heavy equipment to upright and repair stones. This is a long project, but am going thru old old records to find names and info.....please chk them out to see the old soldiers.

RE: Find A Grave Memorial# 133219260
I updated his military service info if that helps you....I "think" I also have a pic of his grave, but I have to go thru my records. I have been going thru old records from basement of churches, etc., to find documentation of those who have no info on their stones, or stones at all..to REMEMBER our past. I will let you know and post if I find his stone(provided he had one).

RE: Toward N Loraine Jr.
Dan,

Thank you for checking on this. There certainly is no rush to have to brave the weather. I now live in Northern California and have mostly forgotten about cold winter weather.

I complain when the temps drop into the fifties. For the most part I have to drive a few hours to get into the snow.

I appreciate your effort in researching this for me.

Regards,
John Lodge

RE: Toward N Loraine Jr.
Dan,

Thank you for getting back to me. You do have a photo of the large monument for Toward Loraine Sr. I am looking for his sons marker. It is a flat marble marker place in this cemetery by his wife Betty E Loraine. It is a military veterans marker.

It was ordered in Feb. of 1955 and should have been placed sometime after that date. It is likely that his wife is buried next to him.

The purchase order for the marker is on the Ancestry.com site.

I was hoping you could visit the cemetery and check for the marker.

Regards,
John Lodge

Toward N Loraine Jr.
Hello Dan,

I am contacting you in regards to request a photo of Toward N. Loraine Jr.. He was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Feb. of 1955. He is the son of Toward Sr.. Toward Jr.'s wife Betty had a military headstone placed over his grave. Perhaps Betty is buried there as well. Thank you for help. Toward Jr. is the grandson of my 2nd Great Grand Aunt, Catherine Lodge Loraine.

Regards,
John Lodge

Foltz/Fultz
Dan, We have some duplicates of the Foltz/Fultz family. I added Gorda Lusby Foltz and his wife Nannie Jane Kidwell Foltz in Feb 2010. You added them as Fultz in Jan 2012. Would you mind adding your info to my memorials and delete the duplicate. I will change the last name to Fultz as it is listed on their stone. Thanks to much.
