William J. Smith Memorial
Linda, Thank you so much for going out today to Oak Hill cemetery to photograph William J. Smith's memorial, just recently uncovered and cleaned. It is wonderful to have this memorial documented for posterity. I know his descendants will appreciate this, as do I. As I've told you, he served as head Keeper at the San Luis Obispo light station from 1905 to 1920. It is good to know where he was laid to rest and that his final resting place has a marker.

Kind regards,

Kathy Mastako

Photo of William Smith's marker?
Hi Linda, Several months ago you helped me by photographing the memorial for Elizabeth F. ("Bessie") Smith in Oak Hill cemetery. The cemetery has just uncovered the memorial belonging to her father, lighthouse keeper William J. Smith. He is buried in Madrona, Tier 9, Grave 20, not too far from Bessie. I have put in a photo request, but just wanted you to know that if you happen to be out at Oak Hill and could take a photo for me, I would be so very grateful. His findagrave number is 183601489 and I created his record under William Jarred Smith (1861-1940). Thank you, Kathy Mastako

RE: 183362946 - Shoup
Geach is their mother's maiden name. I still think this Rose is the same as the other memorial. Their daughter was Rose Claire
Shoup and they had four daughters (Edwin and Gertrude). The only one I cannot find is Alice R Shoup.

Thank you Linda. Did you by chance see this memorial. To me it is the same person as Rose with her parents. Dates are the same. Separate stone. I am confused 142986442

183362946 - Shoup
Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for the photos of Edwin and Gertrude. I noticed that their daughters are not listed for this cemetery so I am going to add them if you would please add the same photos to the memorials so you can get credit for them. I am adding them now so give me a couple hours to make sure Grace, Marjorie and Rose are in there.
Thank you again,

RE: McEntee Edit
I am happy to accept the transfer, but I am not a family member either. I just have been doing general research on McEntee's in America. Let me know if you would like it transferred back. If not, I will manage it until a close family member requests a transfer.

Thank you Linda
Linda, I really appreciate you getting the photo of the grave but what really astonished me was that you also got a photo of the grave next to it which is the spouse. Thank you so much for creating the memorial and transferring it to me. I connected the two. You are amazing and thoughtful.

Eva and Elmer Seery
Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for the great photo of my relatives tablet. Eva's mother was my Great Grandfather's sister. I also love the Google Earth photo with the pin in the gravesite location. What a great idea! I hope it wasn't too time consuming to find the site. Thanks again. Gail

RE: Martha Geach request
Hi Linda,
Kind thanks for your efforts. Her memorial consists of the short obit from the day announcing her funeral on January 2, 1934. Strangely, her son John H. Geach had died the day before her and was to have a funeral same time, same place as hers. Oak Hill Memorial Park was specified as place of burial for both.
The William and Jane Geach who both died in 1891 were her father-in-law and mother-in-law.
I would be interested to know if the cemetery records contain a William or W. E. Geach who died in 1890 or prior, but after 1881.
I have contacted the person who created the memorial - only two months ago - to learn if she had seen a stone, or just the records. I'll get back to you with a response.

- Gary

Linda - Thank you for getting the photos for Henry Rock. I love the location photo. I haven't been able to locate the grave of Henry's wife, Florence Rock. Did you notice if she is buried next to him?
