RE: Loretta Blythe Harris
You're welcome. Always glad when a memorial is with someone who has a connection to them.

Bert Holliday & Joshua Holliday
Hi, I did some poking around and didn't come up with anything definite, but here is a possibility:

Joshua Holliday's father was John Holliday b. abt 1808 in Virginia. John married Mary Thornton.

Bert's father was John J. Holliday, his grandfather was James H. Holliday and his great-grandfather was Samuel Holliday.

Samuel Holliday was born in 1770 in Virginia. He married Lucy Sullivan Nov 13. 1800 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Trees on ancestry don't have children for them before 1810. Samuel died abt. 1850 in Mason County.

It's possible John Holliday (father of Joshua) was a child of Samuel and Lucy.

In the 1850 Census, Samuel Holliday is in East Maysville, Mason County, KY and John Holliday is in District 1, Mason County.

Sorry I couldn't come up with anything more definitive.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you. It was probably a typo. Also, I was in Maysville about 2 weeks ago to see if I could find a family connection and so far no luck. There's no paper trail that I've found so far so I'm hoping through other sources I may find the connection. If I do I'll let you know.

Just curious as to why you list his place of death as Iceland? I don't see anything on the picture to indicate that and the tombstone is in Kentucky?

Harvey & Lieuellen Bowser had 2 more children beside Stephen. There was Nancy Elizabeth Isenbarg. She was born 30 march 1911 in Chehalis, Lewis County Washington, and died 20 February 1987 in Canton, Ohio. And John Mackey Bowser born 26 October 1914 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He died 11 September 1996 in Lancaster, Ohio and he and his wife Ada Belle Ford are buried in the same lot as Hervey and Lieuellen. I have a photo of their grave.

RE: Mollie Desmond Jobst #60358175
Dear j_roberts,

I appreciate your offer of transfer of management of people or families in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Maysville, KY, that would be known or connected to my great-grandfather's family. I would be interested in Timothy Desmond (#60252477); he is brother to my third gr-grandmother Honora Desmond Cotter. I would also be interested in transfer of the Jobst family since Timothy's daughter Mary "Mollie" Desmond married William Augustus Jobst whose death notices I have just recently found.

You have done a great service in photographing those gravestones; particularly, those older ones. Thank you for preserving this history.

RE: Thomas & Amelia McCune
Amelia should not be listed in Highland Cemetery and the memorial deleted. She is not buried there and no death date on her marker. Thomas is ok, he will be noted as a memory marker. Thank you for your help in noting the correct information for this family. Amelia is buried in Los Angeles # 115978523

I seem to have made an error. Please disregard that previous message. I will clear this information up. The back and forth between Ancestry and Find A Grave is tedious. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi JRoberts...Yes...Grover Cleveland Barker was my great Grandfather...but I never meet him!! His son, Dawson Barker was my grandfather. I never met him either because he drowned in 1930 at age 24! I just started doing some family research....are you related to Grover Cleveland? And do you know who HIS parents were?

RE: Lally family
My William & Bridget Lally ALSO lived in Maysville KY (1870) then moved to Cincinnati (1880). This is definitely "my" family in the 1870 and 1880 Census, by virtue of the names of their children - my grandma's mother Julia and Julia's known sisters Bridget and Margaret (along with a child named Darby who I never heard of). Plus, I know that Julia was born in Maysville in 1869.

I can't make a definite connection to the Lallys you made pages for. Possibly there's one. The only William Lally I can find in the 1860 Census is in Cincinnati with wife Bridget, which matches, but also with sons named Thomas and William, but Thomas and William aren't with the family in 1870 or 1880 so I'm not sure if this is my family or another one. The son William would be exactly the right age to be the William Lally, born 1860, that you made a page for but that William's parents are listed as William and Margaret (not Bridget).

The only other tenuous connection is my grandma spoke of an uncle "Frank Lally" who supposedly died young, "drowned in a river" in Cincinnati. There's no Frank with the family in any of the Censuses I found. My thought is that maybe the Darby listed with the family is actually Frank. You made a page for an Edward Frank Lally, but his parents are listed as John and Margaret.

There's a bunch of other Lallys also buried at St. Joseph. In section 13, lot 22, there's a William Lally and a Bridget Lally, both the right ages to be my ancestors. According to family lore, my William died and was buried in Cincinnati. Problem is, there's a Bridget Lalley buried next to known daughter Margaret in Warren Co. OH, so I figure that one's gotta be "my" Bridget. Therefore, I fear there may have been TWO couples named William & Bridget, all about the same ages living in the same area, and the couple I found in the 1860 census and the couple buried at St. Joseph is the other one. Yet I can't find this "other" William & Bridget in the Census after 1860.

My hunch is that somehow all these Lallys are connected but I have no idea how. I was hoping to link up with somebody with some information. I did link up with a descendant of William & Bridget's daughter Bridget, but she didn't know any more than I do. Making matters worse, this Bridget's death certificate says her father's name was "John," not William; mother's name "unknown." Death certificates for Margaret and Julia both say parents "unknown." My data on this branch of my family is so sparse and inconsistent, it's a confusing mess!

You can access a list of Lallys buried at St. Joseph at

No, at this point I don't want you to transfer any pages to me. However, can you email me the photo you posted of Edward Frank Lally, just in case someday I'm able to connect him to my family?

Write me back at my email address:

Many thanks, Joelyn.

I have added an interesting bio of him you may like to check out. I've always enjoyed putting stories of the folks to the long silent graves.
