RE: Inscription?
Paul, the inscription was added, because I didn't know where all the children were buried. I wanted to make sure all the children were mentioned.

I don't know where Emily is buried this number was put on here by Deb. Pat

RE: Inscription?
Paul, sorry it has taken so long to answer you. I haven' been on the computer in mons.

David MC Chance was, the son of Samuel Chance, of the 1st 300 to TX. Samuel was the son of, Vincent Chance who died in LA, I believe if memory serves me, West Feliciana. I don't remember a Vinnie.

Vincent Chance
Paul -

This is not my line, so I have not researched it as necessitated and deserved. I am working on a research-intensive project and the skeletal information I have is collateral.

I try to record information on Find A Grave. As a result, I am contacted every day by descendants who tell me they had no idea their ancestor fought in the American Revolution. The extra time I spend recording the information is time well spent.

You know, Paul, despite the information recorded in Vincent Chance's bio, I am not sure that Samuel Chance was the son of Vincent. The dates are correct, the naming pattern fits, and the migratory pattern fits. Still, I just don't think it was a father / son relationship.

On, the children of Vincent Chance were listed as:

William Chance
John Chance
Stephen Chance
Elijah James Chance
Elizabeth Chance
James Monroe Chance
Zilpha Chance
Vincent Chance, Jr

I checked the DAR GRS (not to insult you intelligence: many people do not realize that is shorthand for Genealogical Research System). You may access that site at you don't have to be a member. The children documented by the DAR:

John Chance
Stephen Chance
Elizabeth Chance
Zilpha Chance

The DAR documents mean only that descendants of those four children have joined the DAR using Vincent Chance as their lineal ancestor. is rife with error, so is not a definite.

I checked, but could not find the Application for Revolutionary War Pension of Vincent Chance. He seems to have filed one, because there is a reference to: "U.S. House of Representative Private Claims, Vol. 1". I cannot access it, though: sometimes, the Pension Application will list the names of the children. Of course, my computer is acting up, so I cannot access A Samuel Chance and a James Chance both filed for RW pension, but I haven't been able to check whether the names of their children were on the applications. Perhaps you can check.

It is so funny that you ask me about Samuel Chance, one of the Old 300. I am from Spartanburg, SC, and worked for a German company which supplied wire harnesses to BMW. My company asked me to go to Mexico to resolve an inventory problem as I am certified APICS (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) and I speak German (or use to: if you don't use it, you lose it). The Germans didn't speak Spanish and the Mexicans didn't speak German, so the company was willing to pay me the price I demanded to move to Mexico.

I switched back and forth: sometimes living in Mexico and sometimes in Texas. I took classes in the history of Texas at the University of Texas. A distant cousin of mine, Caleb Bostic, was one of the Old 300 as was a second cousin twice removed of my husband: my married name is Gilliand, a shortened form of Gilliland. His cousin was Daniel Gilleland, whose grandfather was James Gilliland, one of the Heroes who fought at the Battle of King's Mountain.

Sorry I couldn't help you.

RE: Transfer maintenance
At this time I do not wish to transfer anyone in the Buck family. I have done a lot of research on this family. My grandmother was a Buck.

John Greene Kinard
Hi Paul,

I noticed the memorial that you are maintaining for John Greene Kinard. Are you related? He was my 2nd great grandfather. If you are not related to him, I would be honored to maintain the memorial. If you are related, I'd love to hear from you and share family information if you're interested.

Thank you!

Paul, just wanted to comment, Emily Norman Chance was my 2nd Great Grandmother.
I looked at Sarah Ann Chance Price's site, the picture of her is so beautiful, this almost puts you in a trance, like you have known her all your life.
Hope I haven't bothered you, and thanks for reading this. Pat

RE: Bill Helgren
I'm sorry, but I don't have information about Bill Helgren's Swedish ancestry. In fact, I am not related to Mr. Helgren and probably never met him. Mt father is buried in the same cemetery, and I have taken photos of many graves of veterans there. I got the writeup from the funeral home's website.

RE: Pa Helgren
No, I'm not related to him. The Capital Parks cemetery is a project for me. When I started recording, the cemetery had only about 4500 and now there are 12590. I hope to help people find their families.I enjoy this project every week end and I'm about half way. Thanks

RE: Paul
Thomas Johnson and Catherine Hill were Thelma's gg grandparents. They had at least 6 children and lived in Madison County, Alabama. Their daughter Nancy married my ggg grandfather Levi Lloyd's nephew John Lloyd. Their son John Johnson married Alzena Jacks. Roxie Clarenda Johnson Notgrass was John and Alzena's granddaughter. If you will e mail me at and I will share my research with you. Mary Beth Marchant

Re:Paul "Possie" Price-Find A Grave Memorial# 62092089
According to his death certificate, he died in Big Spring, Howard County, Texas-not in Rusk County. Thought you might want to enter a correction. I am researching his wife's family on the Johnson side.
