Bio

My interest in history branched out into genealogy over 30 years ago. I was living near Salt Lake City, Utah on my first assignment as an inspector for the U.S. military when I came across the LDS Genealogy Library. Spent many a Saturday poring through microfiche, a task that takes minutes today on-line! My job required me to move every 3 or 4 years, allowing me to live near some of the places my ancestors came from. During my 6 years in Germany, I visited the Wolcott ancestral home in England a couple of times, an incredible experience.

While driving through Kearney, Missouri, I happened to remember my grandmother being born there. The city information office gave me directions to the local cemetery and a listing of all its inhabitants, asking me if I would place them on-line. Three years later, after discovering Findagrave, I did.

Incidentally, you are welcome to use the photos I've added to Findagrave. I've driven as much as a 1000 miles to take some of them.

Background: I grew up in Encino, California and attended Whittier College and UCLA. Finding California boring, I finished my last two years of college at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville near where my aunt and uncle lived. After a return to California of 5 years, I got a job with the U.S. military that involved 16 months of specialized training in inspections of conventional, toxic chemical, and nuclear weapons with huge amounts of travel, a dream job!
