RE: Pearre Headstone Photos
You are very welcome. As a Hulme descendant, I have Pearre-attuned cemetery radar. If you see any that could use improvement, just holler. I keep a "re-do" list for stuff that looked better in the field. Happy holidays! --H

Re: Joseph Noble Stockett & Sophia Watkins Stockett
Hi Lois,

So wonderful to meet a Stockett cousin on Find-a-Grave! Joseph Noble Stockett & Sophia Watkins Stockett are my 4th-great grandparents, so I was happy to sponsor and upload pertinent images to their memorials. Speaking of which, unless you're more closely related to them than I am, would you consider transferring Joseph & Sophia my way? I would be eternally grateful! I have quite a bit of information that I would like to add to their profiles.

Also, it would be great to connect with you on I will send you an invitation to my tree. Both of those images of Joseph are already on there, so feel free to save them to your tree from mine.

All the best,

My information is from the cemetery records. You are correct, the middle name is Campfield. According to the records, his wife is not buried with him (or she has no marker). He is next to MAry Kneedler and Dwight Hazelton

Wonderful! Was so ashamed of Mr. Stockett's marker photo that I went back down there today to get a better one. Worked out well, because I was there at the right time, and with a good brush, to get a decent photo of his wife's marker, which wasn't the case yesterday. Will upload the lot of them, with improvements. Looking forward to seeing the portrait! --Harriet

Lois, just FYI, Mr. Stockett is buried adjacent to Elvira Pearre Stockett (1906-1928), who does not yet have a memorial. The two of them are buried by one of the Hulme families. --Harriet

Dear Lois,
I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any listings in my Find a Grave, or Ancestry files for Sarah Wyatt or Damaris Stockett or any other Stockett. Do you have any further info that might help?

RE: Infant Stockett
You're welcome. There are so many hundreds of graves of babies and others in this particular part of the cemetery! They keep it very nice, but to stand there knowing just how many folks are in unmarked graves is rather depressing. But, folks did what they could do, and unfortunately, that sometimes meant they were unable to mark the graves with a stone. But at least you know where the baby is. The cemetery also did not signify on infants' records whether it was a baby boy or girl...another sign of the times, I guess. Sad.

Hi! I know nothing of the family, other than the info I added to Leroy's memorial at Hillcrest Memorial. The photo I added has Janice born in 1918, so it's conceivable she's still living. Do you have access to Newspaper Perhaps there's an obit listed for her, should she have passed away. Gene.

RE: Mattie Stockett
Hi again!

The Evans family graves had photo requests posted yesterday. All but Mattie's. I emailed the lady who claimed the requests and asked if she'd include a photo of Mattie's headstone, as well. So looks like we're almost there!

I read a bio of Mattie that someone just posted on here (Mattie L Evans, Fort Jones cemetery) and discovered that she had been married before she married the mysterious Mr Stockett. Turns out I knew her son, Corky Courts! He worked at the radio station here in town and was quite the popular newsman. He'd let me talk into the radio once in a while, to read a clip. I was just a little girl; but would tag along with my dad sometimes when he took the ads for his stores in to the radio station. Corky was such a nice man. Small world!

I don't know anything about Stearns. Yet. haha

Mattie Stockett
Hi again,

Despite Mattie Stockett's name being listed on the Evergreen Cemetery site here on findagrave, we have no record of her being buried there.

I did some research this evening and couldn't find any Mattie Stockett buried in the area, so I did a search for her death record and found her maiden name was Evans.

I found her listed as Mattie L. Evans 1900-1949 buried in the Masonic area of the Fort Jones Cemetery in Ft. Jones, CA (Siskiyou Co) She is in the family lot there.

I will try to find her grave and snap a photo next time I've over there (it's about 20 miles from here).

Hope this helps! Also, Mattie's husband remarried in 1961 in Josephine Co Oregon. His 2nd wife, Hylda Stockett is buried beside him in Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, CA

Born 1870. I recently found a very good article on him in an old newspaper. Please contact me by email and I will scan and send it to you. I had to photo shoot it in six sections. It also includes his photograph.
