Hi Patsy. I haven't seen Joyce in years, and I've been trying to go see her with my mother for some time to try and swap info on the family. Maybe we could all get together the next time that I'm in GA. I'd love to meet you. :-)

As for Uncle Otis''s up to you. The pink colored one was a scan of an old tin-type photo that my mother has. Someone else apparently downloaded it from the memorial and converted it to black and white.

With the info you gave me I was able to find the book info you mentioned and a web page that has the news articles about the murders. I have added a link to Thomas' memorial and a very sharp remark about people creating new markers for graves they know nothing about. I am glad I created the Latham family memorials so the true story would be told. So many others would not have been interested enough to seek out the truth about the event. Thank you so much for your help with this.

Thos. J. Latham #76215704
I was researching the note you left on Thomas' memorial and could not find any reference to your statement about his families death. I also discovered that the death date on the 4 markers is not correct. His mother Victoria died on the March 28, 1930 and Thomas signed her death certificate. Also Thomas, his wife and 6 of their children including Grady and Erlene are listed in the April 2, 1930 Mountain View Haralson Co. GA census... so they could not have died on March 18, 1930. None of them are listed in the SSDI, GDI or GVV. May I ask where you found the info about their deaths and do you have any other info to help find the correct death date. The markers were probably placed long after their deaths and the date was guessed. I would like to correct the info, especially since the event was so tragic.

Thank you so much for this information. I will add it to my records, and see if I can't find some of them (to add pictures) when I get back there later this year. Have a great day! :)

Could you provide more publication specifics on the Haralson County Cemetery book describing the burial of Dudley and Martha Rowell? No need to change anything yet. The only thing I know to be incorrect is the date of death for Martha. I do not know her date of death, only that it was after 1910 and thus not in 1905.

Added by Kenneth Snead on Oct 22, 2013 5:24 PM

Thanks so much! I know someone else already asked, but where did you find the date information for both of the parents? I assume no markers have been found since they are thought to be buried there. Just curious so I can add the sources to my notes. Thanks again! :)

Martha Matilda Rowell (#71372115)
What is the source of your information regarding Mary Rowell's birth, death and burial? Her date of death is definitely incorrect, she was still living in 1910 when she was enumerated along with one of her daughters in the 1910 US Census.

Also what is the source of your information for her husband, Dudley Rowell, Sr. (#71372000)?

Dudley and Mary Rowell were my gg-grandparents.

Boy, I really screwed up the dates on that memorial pretty badly. Thank you for letting me know.

Hi Patsy,
For future reference, when you suggest a change or correction, it would be most helpful to the memorial creator/owner if you would do so by SAC rather than by PM. That way, a link directly to the memorial is provided and a search for the memorial isn't necessary. Thanks.

Re: James T. White and Sara Totty

Thank you SO much for the work that you have done.

James Thomas White and Sarah Totty (Toddy) were my GGGrandparents.

If interested, I have quite a bit of information on them as we'll as their descendants (and some info on their parents). More than willing to share.

If interested please let me know. Would love to know of other White family members working on this same family tree.

Re: Laura V. Johnson Longshore
Thank you Patsy, for deleting the duplicate memorial. I think we've all been guilty of doing this at one time or another, but as long as we make the effort to rectify it...that's what counts!

Laura V. Johnson Longshore
The memorial you created for Laura V. Johnson Longshore (#69743558) is a duplicate. I'm sure this was an oversight on your part... but would you please delete it?

Thank you,

You should just edit cemetery for the memorial. I had over 100 memorials that I had listed in the wrong cemetery. Those two cemeteries get a lot of errors I think because of them being so close.

Thanks for the transfer. I'm working on biographies for several relatives and will add her to the list of the ones that I'm working on. I hope Joyce or my mother might have a photo of her that can be added to the memorial.

You've done a lot of work on findagrave! I see your name a lot on memorials that I visit. I appreciate your hard work! :-)

Compare your entries in Pleasant Grove Baptist, Villa Rica, Carroll Co, and Pleasant Grove Methodist, Haralson Co. You will be surprised. It's for you and the other contributor to work out. I just noticed, because I was searching Georgia for Leathers... Happy Holidays
