Hi James would you look at the picture on this memorial 183234096? Because of a fire the cemetery has no records for these earlier burials. There are 4 people on the stone John and Sarah Gamble whom I am assuming are John and wife Sarah Douthitt but the other 2 because of the dates could not possibly be their children. I do not know If Oliver on this stone and Hezekiah on this stone are Gamble's or possibly brothers of Sarah any help to label my pictures properly would be greatly appreciated. The D. for Hezekiah's middle initial through me as John and Sarah used her maiden name for some of their sons. Or is this possibly a different John and Sarah? thanks for any help Kathi

|Melissa Edmundson||Former Port Vue resident who wants to know more about the Edmundson's from Port Vue|
My Name is Melissa (Cenna) Edmundson. I grew up on Dersam Street. My father Frank was a longtime mailman in Port Vue.
While I was growing up I have always seen the name Edmundson and then in 2003 I married Dean Edmundson, JR from Derry, Pa
My father in law (Ronald) Dean Sr and I talk about the Edmundson's of Port Vue and wonder if they are related to the Derry/Latrobe Edmundson's. I saw your name this website and wanted to reach out.
My husband and I live in Northern Virginia but frequently visit Pittsburgh.

I have not been in the cemetery for years. I found the list of burials in the McKeesport Library in about 1989. They were I believe in the old Edmundson Newsletters. I placed the list at the McKeesport Heritage Center. So that would be about the first time I was in the cemetery. I found my Calhoun graves. Think I was lucky to find one uncovered and had to remove dirt from the others.
As for which Edmundsons were removed from the Edmundson Cemetery I found the following in the McKeesport Versailles Cemetery
John Edmundson died Dec 11 1897
Single grave 1 range 2 seperate grave sec H
(Removed from Edmundson Cemetery
Cordelia wife of John d. Aug. 3 1905 int. 16721
(Removed from Edmundson Cemetery special grave 6 range2)
Nancy Calhoun Edmundson d.Dec 27 1862
single 4 range 1 (to be placed with Sarah Edmundson)
Sarah Edmundson d June 2 1895
John Edmundson d. Dec.2 1863
single 3 range 1 (to be placed with Sarah Edmundson)
Joseph Edmundson d. March 11 1859
single 2 lot 1 (to be placed with Sarah Edmundson

I sent you a message on your email. I hope you get it. I am interested in learning about William Edmundson one of my GGrandfathers. Going to Ireland in April to find my family roots. What things should I see to walk in his footsteps.

I understand the frustrations of distance. It was easy to make this mistake as there are really 3 different cemeteries that serve Home City -- Home City North; Home City South (Fairview) and this old one just called "Home". Anything else I can help you with, just let me know.

I have a strong suspicion that this entry #75969007 was wrongly identified with the "Home" cemetery, which is a very small, unused cemetery sw of Home City. It probably was from the "Home City Cemetery" which is a large, well-used cemetery a mile north of Home City. Cyrus and the rest of the Edmundsons are now buried in the Marysville Cemetery adjacent to the Schwarz/Wuester group, which was moved from the Home City Cemetery. I suspect that the Edmundsons were moved at the same time.

Yes, please use the photos on Find A Grave. My mother took lessons from Garth and his wife, Ann. I remember sitting in the room where the organ was located. It was a beautiful instrument. Ann had a concert grand in the dining room. She was my teacher for many years. New Castle is my hometown. Let me know when you go to PA. I live in CA or I would take the photos for you. I love visiting New Castle, but I cannot afford to travel at this time. How exciting for you!

Jim, the following is your suggestion
(I have her maiden name as Bibbee, sometimes spelled Bibby, etc. Are you certain it is Baber? Jim.)
The records I found give the last name as Baber.

|Louie Edmundson||RE: Quaker William Edmundson Event|
Dear Mr. Edmundson:
It was a pleasure to receive your message about the William Edmundson event. I had previously picked up some information about it on a web page but got few details from that. William is my 8X grandfather, though sad to say my branch of the family has long since left the Quakers and descended into Methodism out here in the wilds of Tennessee. I've read his journal and found it to be an astonishing, instructive document. How lukewarm we've become in our present age!(I speak for myself here).
I am too old and poor to be doing much traveling these days, but I am very much interested in the Celebration/Commemoration and will welcome any news relating to it which may be forthcoming in the days ahead.

|Member #47700116||Other Edmundsons at Bookside Cemetery|
I have three other Edmundson's in the Brookside Cemetery that I created:
If any of these three are part of your family just let me know and you shall have them.
There are a lot of Edmundson's there but the others are not mine. Also it could be that they are not part of your family. Don't know.
